Nice clunk from Kentfield, a bit like the JVR one late on Harris Andrews except up on the wing.

Matthews doing some nice things
He's looking like a high impact player. I think Matthews has the type of game where he could be a contributor already at AFL level. If Latrelle starts to flag or there's injury to Chin then Matthews would have to be close to playing.

There he is again! Get him in.

Wow, Matthews just kicked a goal of the year contender. Half forward flank received the handball, 40 metre run with three bounces and then checkside through from 30 out near the boundary.

Berry has that Brody Grundy body. Elongated torso, a bit chunky through the glutes and legs. He's a lot shorter of course, but it's an odd build.
I mean he has been jumping on hardwoods/concrete floor before this so he might have need some padding to absorb the jumps or the falls

Despite Sydney absolutely blitzing Casey early, especially in the second half there was a fair bit to like IMO at a player basis (as opposed to the scoreboard which was a 17 point loss).

Bowey - Played the full game in contrast to last week where he only played the first half. Played his expected role as that small defender but in that more offensive role rather than pure defender. For mine he's shown enough that he's ready to come back to the senior team when the opportunity arises.

Matthews - Had a huge second half after being relatively quiet in the first. He was mostly forward with some short stints on ball. Kicked one amazing goal with three bounces and a checkside, another strange snapshot that looked poor but went through, plus a regulation set shot. He really should've had four but Berry marked a kick on the goal line that was going through. He also drew at least four free kicks and will be a player opposition supporters dislike. Baby face but draws head high contact. If the opportunity presents I reckon he can be a contributor at AFL level already. Very exciting game from him.

Taylor - he played a little higher up the ground but still as a defender. Had some absolute howler error kicks in the first half, but he looked better in the second half and those errors didn't seem to make him drop his head. Still very raw and showed exactly why he went back to VFL for more development. He has a lot going for him though, not least self confidence.

McDonald - He played as a key back and Adams and Tmac swapped between Hayden McLean and the other tall Sydney forward. He was as you'd expect at this level. Got a heap of the ball, defended well. He couldn't do much more except be 5 years younger and a bit more agile.

Adams - For mine that's the best two game stretch I've seen from Adams. He took plenty of intercepts and used the ball really well. I've gone from having zero confidence in Adams making it to a "Well, maybe he could".

White - I've been quite impressed with White given I had very low expectations due to his lack of size. He uses what he's got, which is agility and shows some promising signs. Still a mile off AFL level and needs to put on another 10kg minimum.

Berry - Played mostly forward in a changed position and did very little until he "stole" a goal from Matthews for his first VFL goal. After that point he seemed a bit more confident and did some OK things. Clearly miles away at this point.

Mentha - injured a calf super early, before I even started watching the game.

Onley - had some excruciatingly horrible kicks early in the game when he was getting a bit of the ball, and then as the game wore on he wasn't as prolific. Plays a defender/wing type position and he's a long way off.

Henderson - I think he was rested in the second half so will be the true emergency for the main game. As I've said before he's very good at this level as a mid.

Kentfield - He did very little early as a key forward and relief ruck, but he was a factor in the second half including a nice hanger on the wing, plus a couple of goals and another couple of chances he didn't convert. His knee is still heavily strapped.

Moniz-Wakefield - Didn't have as much of the ball as last week and seemed to be a bit higher up the ground at times. A solid game that would be building his case for a recall if the chance presents.
