Are you sure a cat is doing it? It seems like an odd place for a cat to pee. Could it be a possum or something else? Cats dig and pee (dirt/sand etc) they won't usually do it on other surfaces.

agree with the above to an extent although it could be an unnneutered tom marking his territory

if you are game to stay up late
an effective way would be to spray the cat with water ( hose , water pistol or inside spray bottle your mum uses for the ironing) anthign more physical and you hurt the cat
could end up costing you a lot of money if yur neighbours sue you/rspa get involved

http://www.deteracat.co.uk/index.htm - go down your local hardware shop & buy a cat deterrent

Tiger/lion shit
Tinfoil
A empty coke bottle full of water
A pretend cat with glowing eyes
A strong citrus scent -orange, lemon or lime
A dog

Talk nicely with your neighbours first and see if they will do anything.

If it continues, leave the bbq on and roast the ****er.

Uncalled animal cruelty = bad.

However if the owners won't do shit, and its affecting your property, then.............

Cats can get ****ed. If I see them in my house, I will gladly scare them off. When I was a kid I used to throw stones at them (and sometimes hit them) if they were anywhere on my property. I don't even feel bad about it, looking back on this today. Cat owners have a responsibility to take care of their animal, and if they don't and the cat infringes on other people's homes, then I couldn't give a shit what happens to their cat. More so, I know there are cat owners reading this and feeling self-righteous about allowing their cats to roam the neighbourhood as they please. To any of you, take your finger out, because I'm laughing :)

And "called for" animal cruelty is good?

... you can figure out a way that doesn't involve stoning.

It doesn't mean you should be gratuitously cruel.

I agree that cats can be a problem at times, but if you are serious about some of the methods to remove them, then it says a lot more about you than it does for the cat owners.

^You know what, you have a point.

I still don't see anything wrong with a kid throwing stones the size of half my finger at a cat, although my dislike for cats may cause some bias in that regard.

Still, I think it's fair to say that cat owners generally don't do enough (due to basically not caring) in terms of preventing their cats from infesting other people's places.

Why should I have to figure out a way to prevent cats from cming to my home, when it should and must be common sense for owners to prevent them doing this in the first place?

What measures can someone like the OP take that will involve a minimal financial cost that shouldn't have to be undertaken in the first place?

Only worthy suggestions so far seem to be getting a dog (constant financial cost), spraying the cat with water (not a guarantee), and dynamite.

I totally agree about cat owners should be responsible & keep their cats in their own yards, dog owners have to do it, or face hefty fines.

I will however pick you up on the bolded bit. Naturslly it costs money to own a dog, but the companship, & devotion you get from a dog is priceless, also you don't have to worry about insuring your house for theft, so overall they pay their own way. :thumbsu:

My dogs killed something like 8-10 cats over a 5 year period, all had come into our yard and had no collars. Guilty conscience? no way. Disgusted when the dog decides to drag one she's been saving for a while underneath the clothes line on a 40 degree day? You bet.

The kid is stupid and immature. It won't do anything except annoy the cat.

Rofl, seriously? Isn't it illegal?

Cheers guys, appreciate the ideas, some very funny ones at that!

I have thought about the idea of getting a dog although our yard isn't overly spacious and probably wouldn't be fair on a dog in such a limited space.

I have often sprayed my hose on it anytime it comes near my house, it knows I have a distinct dislike for it as anytime it sees me it runs for cover!

I don't see why I should have to fork out $$ to keep somebody else's stinking tomcat of my property.... I know it is the cat, there is no doubt in my mind. It makes it hard to maintain neighbourly relationships when their pets are allowed to roam free on my property...

1. Most of the stones missed the cat, however the rare ones that did wouldn't have even hurt it, but rather given it a fright so it temporarily pissed off. The stones were half the size of a finger and relatively light in mass.

2. Dynamite, in jest:p

Every year we have the young possums who have been moved on by their mum looking for a place to settle down. Most of our neighbors have constent trouble as they let them settle in. We have high powered water pistols next to the spa and encourage anyone who uses the spa to be patient and make sure any shot they take hits its mark. We don't see that many anymore as it seems our place is now black banned by the local possum community.
