RUGBY WITH XIII. J-A BANKS LATELY ELECTED NEW PRESIDENT OF THE LEAGUE.

“The window should be arranged”

During eight years, of 1998 to 2006, it governed the destinies of the Bears of Comminges. Today, it takes in hands the League. With enthusiasm. This treizist convinced for submission to making move the discipline.

Does president, this League have his raison d'être?

Of course. It is the embryo of Rugby with XIII of tomorrow. Our building site, it is the professional sector exclusively. One must come to assistance of the clubs in order to better structure oneself. One must convince them to enter a professional structure.

Who orders, the Federation or the League?

No the doubt; it is the Federation. Because, it should be known that juridically the League does not exist! We are an internal commission with the Federation and President Nicolas Larrat empowered to me to structure the window of the discipline.

In football, Rugby, and basketball, amongst other things, the League regent the whole of the sector pro. What happenhappen does at the XIII?

Today, one is wanting to migrate towards professionalism. Ca passes by a will and an action. A structuring of the Elite… Our task, it is to accompany the clubs in this step.

Super League, it is of the professional. How are you located?

It is a super challenge which Guasch and its team knew to raise. With brilliance. Even if with the classification, one could expect better. The Catalans compete with the best English formations. Moreover, the TV rating shows that Rugby with XIII remainder a telegenic sport.

On the level of the priority actions, you must have ideas…

We reflect together. I am indeed helped by a steering committee made up of four presidents of clubs.

With knowknowing, Carlos Zalduendo (Toulouse), Richard Gélis (Lézignan), Guy Laforgue (Perpignan) and Jean Davy (Villefranche/Cahors).

At our first meeting, this last Monday with Lézignan, we fixed the calendar of the season; thus the finale of the championship will be played in Toulouse, at the stage Ernest Wallon on May 27, the final of the Cut from France in Carcassonne, the 5 or May 6.

The whole of our work is then presented at the college general of the presidents of club for validation.

Next year the Catalans will finish bottom again and this time won't be saved from relegation. Watch this space :thumbsu:

Wrong mate.

The Catalans can not be relegated for 3 years, once the 3 years are up, the ESL will be moving into a franchise system where teams will not have to worry about being relegated to the lower divisions.

They will get a licence for a couple of years so the teams can work on building up their juniors and other things.

If a team is in the franchised League and are hopeless after the said amount of years, they will then be relegated to let a new team move up.:thumbsu:

Meh, they will still finish bottom then. Croker won't an ounce of difference.

Are you crazy?

Sorry not being mean, but the Catalans have got Mogg, Mcguire and Crocker from Australia.

They will only have 6 out of 25 players next year who will be none French, Catalan.

The best young players from the French domestic League are moving to the Dragons, with the good French they have playing now getting better with each game, things are looking up.

They won't come last next year, they have a good forward pack, they need backs, and they got them.

Give the French guys a couple of seasons in the ESL, we'll all be able to see a decent French team, playing against us at the top level.

Not many of us have seen any top teams from France before, we could just get that.:thumbsu:

Could you imagine the World club challenge being fought out between the NZ Warriors and Catalans?

A real kick in the guts for Australia and England.:o

We'll see. I don't rate any of those players and doubt they will make much of a difference. I reckon the Cat's will struggle for a while yet.
