A computer-gumby question: I've managed to convert CD tracks to MP3s, and the tracks are then listed in the recipient folder as "Track 1", "Track 2" etc.

How do I get the track name and artist to remain? No, I don't really want to manually change them. Any software that will do the trick automatically?

Using XP Pro.

Most Cd-2-Mp3 Rippers can read the Cd Text Information of a CD (if it is a legit abum, not a personal mix cd) and automatically put the information in a ID3 Tag of the Mp3.

I use FreeRIP MP3. Thats a reasonably fast and easy ripper to use that does automatically putting in a ID3 tag (although I still usually edit them to my personal liking).

Thanks, cacbm. I'm using CDex now, and must say it is very easy to work with, and has more features than I know what to do with.

I downloaded a very good manual with basic config settings, and straight out of the box, so to speak it is working faultlessly. The CDDB feature is great.

Zeke, I downloaded itunes, and while it works well on the XP box at work, it just won't operate on my XP machine at home. It burns the CD fine, and yet when I go to play a song, it crashes MediaPlayer and gives me a "MPEG header not found" error message.

Damn, because the interface is aesthetically pleasing and its easy to use. Thanks for the recommendation, by the way.

Any ideas?

use CDex, the best program out there!

it can fill in the artist's name, album, song's name...etc via the CDDB server automatically.

it's quick, small and free.
