Over the years , I have collected many a compilation CD from Uncut, or Q or similar. They have had some great CDs over the years and a while back when I was ripping some music to my computer to listen to at work, I took a whole heap of these in and the information that comes up is false. It also happens on other compilations that I have bought independently.

Sometimes the info for CD 1 is on CD 2. Sometimes, every track listing is wrong, CD title is wrong, everything.

I am not one to download music and still buy hard copies of CDs but I am finding this pretty annoying. Surely I should be able to put the music that I have bought legitimately onto my computer for my use.

yeah I have no idea. On the topic of uncut compilations ever listen to this one done by devendra banhart.

Yeah I have that one, but by the look of it, the info was wrong so I have no idea what is on it. I am at work, CD at home.

As you are ripping it, or after, you can edit the information. It also happens if you somehow by a US or European copy of a cd. Tracks will be in a different order or the title will be the same and the track listing completely different.

I still buy all hard copy cd's and rip them and it isn't happening as much as it used too.

Very annoying. Ive had some come up with no info at all or the right artist yet a different album and then I go to rip that album and Im left with 2 identical track listings of different music merged into one mega album.

Yeah it's frustrating but you can just enter the information yourself as you rip or after.

I have edited some, but I brought about 80 CDs in a day to rip onto the computer and it should be a simple process of putting the CD in and then taking it out when it ejects.

I am supposed to working :), so I don't really want to edit each one. Most are ok. Whinge over anyway !

For what it is worth, there are some great mixes on those CDs. Mojo did some great ones too.

I bought the Uncut magazine for the Tom Waits interview and it had a cd on the front called Tom Waits Jukebox.

Quite easily the best freebie magazine cd in existence.

Damn, must have missed the Tom Waits one. Who is on it?

I have the Bob Dylan, Joe Strummer, Bruce Springsteen jukebox ones and they are fantastic.

Captain Beefheart
Man Man
The Horrible Crowes
Jack Kerouac
Southside Johnny with LaBambas Big Band
Beirut
Howlin' Wolf
Harry Partch
William Elliott Whitmore
John Brim
Jesca Hoop
Califone
Johnny Dowd
Frank Sinatra
The Low Anthem

It was the December 2011 UK edition so you might still find one lying around Jim.

Great line up. Thanks for the heads up.

I reckon they will be in the newsagents still.

I am a bit of a tight arse in that I never buy the UK editions. I will wait a month for the later edition and save $3.

Me too, except when Tom Waits is involved. There was also a Robert Smith interview where he spoke about the Opera House gig from last year that I was at and I was really interested in his thoughts on it so it was easily worth the extra $3.
