We gave them too much of a start and they made us pay. Didnt help kicking 3.8 in the third or we wouldve steamrolled them sooner.

I got to the game a bit late and so missed their first three goals. In the end we lost by three goals, so basically what I watched was a draw. Still was terrible to watch, we were shocking. Even when we were dominating it was painful to watch because we were so wasteful. Got to give credit to them though, they were definitely switched on in that first half. Seems like they used the 'celebration game' idea as motivation better than we did.

Must have annoyed the team a little having a celebration game against us, and a few comments from Mitchell during the week made me think that if anything probably spured Hawthorn on a little bit.

To Hird's credit he still had a good game, but I couldn't help but feel he didn't enjoy the situation.

If you guys manage to get Gibbs you've got a pretty decent midfield developing. Probably lack some quality line breaks (akermanis?) but its definately improving.

Embarassing.

Hawforn irritates me as much as Essedon must irritate you. It was hard going as a Hawthorn fan outnumbered about 20:1 in the crowd. Cheers to those around me who put up with my constant rendition of "old man Hird"... I'd had a few.

Despite the "line in the sand" and all that, I enjoy our games against Essendon. Always a good turn out and a lively atmosphere.

No, Hawthorn went "We are better than you, we have more promise than you, and you have had your time, and those times are over".

I think we have won three of our last four against you, and you know that the loss was a joke as "hay" kicked that goal!!

Apart from that, good fight from you guys. We don't have the stamina required to play at our best for four quarters.

Hird sat on his own a lot, Courtney Johns is NOT a defender, and Stanton looks the goods totally. I can see why Jobe Watson may irk some of you, but he is bloody good. Lucas is a hard one to stop, and he played very well, without him it would have been worse. And Bolton I think was a big help for the Hawks.

For me, it was my second time at the dome, and I reckon all our games should be played at the G. The dome is great viewing, but the atmosphere is not the same. We have a history, and it's always a good crowd. Apparantly a "sell-out", the only people missing being Essendon members. True??
