This would be aimed at the 30 and over bracket.

Anyone remember the old Central Station Record store oppposite Flinders street station?(Wher the new AFL museum thingy is now)
If u do then u'd remember Gretal, the old Gothic witch that owned and ran the place.
Used to be the only place u could buy Heavy music without having to get the store to pre order it for you.

LMAO@ Buying Venom,Savatage,Malmsteen, Ozzy alnums from a witch.

Remember Central station records , don`t remember Gretal... although the way Gretal Killeen is looking these days are you sure they aint one and the same ???

Spent many a school holiday hopping the train into town to wander through that shop then onto 10-4 to play Galaga for free all day . You`d pinch an ignitor out of someones hot water system and zap the coin slot with it and watch the credits rack up ....LMAO

Bought a lot of rarified 12 inchs from that shop , cost a bloody fortune though .

Are you sure you have the right store. Central station records specialised in hip hop and dance music on cd and vinyl. They have never sold heavy metal music. There was a store near central station records that sold heavy metal and was also situated at the banana alley vault's at some point. I can't quite remember the name of the store.

Got a feeling they had more than one outlet

Pretty sure there was a "central station" in the old city square as well

Ws before Bananna Alley..about 82 ?

Was also accross the road from Flinders st station.
I dont think Im trippin that badly.:(

Nah boys.
Im sure it was where i said.

They had an add on late nite TV that used an early Judas Priest song on the add.I cant remember the name of the song.
It went
"Noh,Noh,NOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
*High pitched scream*

I think the song was "The Ripper " from Sad wings of Destiny.

There was a shop in Banana Alley across from the Old Central Station which i'm sure is the one you are talking about.

As for CSR, i remember the original Central Station Records in the City Square which then moved to Flinders street,as well as the Chapel street store, used to shop their every week, and i mean every week  , even had a dj's only discount pass [oh those were the days]. Now i'm left with 6 crates full of 12"ers.

CSR is now in Swanston street.

Like others earlier, my recollection was that Central was the place to go for Rap/Hip Hop/Dance etc and a lot of writers (graffiti) used to buy magazines...and they used to sell Troop/British Knights & Fila stuff there.

Extreme Aggression rings a bell...which store was Metal Mayhem? in Banana Alley?

Do little Wiggas still roll kids for hats and shoes? sad.

Remember buying a lot of breaking videos from Central Station in the mid 90's. Miss the place.

The Central station i remember had a lot of imported stuff you couldn't get anywhere else but it was on flinders st not on swanston or wherever the afl musuem is.
