Hi all,

Up until now, one thread has housed the discussion of a game from when it was first rumoured up until the end of its cycle.

Instead, we would like to encourage you to create a new thread on launch day, after which the old thread - housing rumours and news up to release - will be locked.

This also includes consoles - for example, when the Switch releases, the pre-release thread will be closed in favour of a new one.

This allows easier searching, makes it easier for newbies to jump in, and also makes Google happy.

When you do create a new thread, please try to link to it in the old thread so discussion can move over.

Thanks,
Dannnnnnnnnn

I like the idea, but am curious about that line. Hows it help google? Purely for my own curiosity.

I'm passing on information from Chief so I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's just a matter of it being easier to accurately index multiple threads with different information than one massive bloated thread featuring everything from, "This game may exist one day," to, "This game has been out for nine years but I still love it."

Personally think it's better to keep everything related to that topic in one thread. Shouldn't make a difference if it has come out etc IMO
It's more of a site-wide move towards more specific, event-based threads rather than large, broad threads dedicated to a range of topics. Call it a trial for now.

So basically a NeoGAF style model. Do they go up on launch day or the day beforehand?

Also if we're calling threads then Destiny 2 OP is mine
It doesn't really matter, as long as they're not made so early that they're filled with numerous pages of, "I can't wait for this game to be released."

The day before would cover anyone midnight launching the game and allow for a few posts of where to get it cheapest.

Any kind of template to follow when creating threads (in particular release threads)? Such as have to contain release date/trailer/website etc..

If there's a launch trailer it would be great to include it. Maybe a brief one sentence outline or something. It's really your call though.

On a more serious topic, E92_ has posted twice on this board this year, is he the new Don Draper?

What I mean is, stand aside you jerk and give someone else the role.

A link to the previous thread is also a good idea, for future reference.

One gripe i have is with the thread titles. Out now becomes a bit redundant after a few weeks. Maybe a prerequisite that any thread created before the games official release needs to have discussion in it's title, leaving just the games title for the release thread.

Yeah we need to work something out here. Maybe a pre-launch prefix?
