I reckon we need to brace ourselves for this game. That was a huge effort last week, and must have been such a let down.

Season is officially over, and you would think there's going to be a bit of a flat feel about the game after that result.

If the boys get up this week and play well, it's a huge credit do Bucks. But I have to say I'm quite worried.

Tbf Blair was originally out of the side for the Adelaide game. While he ****ed up big time towards the end of the game overall it was probably a better game than his usual standard. That, and I think this is the first time this year? we've had the opportunity to select an unchanged team probably saved him. Don't agree with it but I imagine that would have been the rationale behind retaining him.

This weekends game will be a good opportunity for our backline to gain experience from a Coleman medal contestant. Even though they are a bottom team, Ben brown has been tearing it up. Keen to see who goes on him and Waite. Would have thought by selecting younger blokes they could have had good experience on some big bodies key forwards.

The four best small forwards this year against North:
R Gray 2 goals 3 behinds
E Betts 3 goals 0 behinds
O Fantazia 4 goals 1 behind
J Garlett 3 goals 2 behinds and 0 goals 0 behinds

So North are giving away on average 2.4 goals or 3.6 scoring shots to small forwards.
They have also lost one of their main small defends, Marley, for the year.

Given this our selection committee decide against playing the VFL leading goal kicker, small forward Kirby against Norths backline of S Durdin 198cm 4 games, D Nielson 194cm 4 games, R Tarrant 196cm 101 games.

Yeah, good to see they have faith in Elliott and Fasolo to do the job with cameo's from Thomas and Blair.

I have a horrible feeling the second half of the Adelaide game will continue into the first half of the North game.
Back to the sabbatical young fellow.

We will rip them apart.

(Or not)

Hahahahahaa...

So many people claiming the glass is completely empty, when the glass is either half full or half empty.

We have played better footy over the last 3 weeks (with some hiccups).

We will beat North by 50+ this week.
Actually we've been better all year overall.
A few tidy ups, a bit of maturity in the young ones, and up we go

Higher and higher.

Well, that's the plan anyway.

The most amazing thing this year is regardless of any game we have always been within some kind of striking distance, and all losses by a few goals (most 5 or 6?)
Quite remarkable.

As bad as some think we are, like the worst ever... For all that we only ever lose by bits.

Very very strange season

Waite is out.

It is interesting to note they have gone really tall. Pruess (206), Brown (200), Durdin (198), Tarrant (196), Thompson (193), Neilson (194), Goldstein (201), and Larkey (198).

Pruess and Larkey were under injury clouds so could be late withdrawals with 3 small-medium types in their emergencies.

Could make it really interesting in terms of matchups under the roof.

You are correct...the scores at the end of the game last were level.
This week we shall start the game with level scores...
No change...
That's gold

Post of the year category.

Wish I thought of that.

Extra likes for the biting genius displayed. Like it.

We're playing Norf this week, someone from their end needs to go and tag Greenwood!

The angst is perhaps more focussed on what it says about the mindset and decision making of those in charge rather than purely Blairs merits compared to others. We are clearly at a stage with Blair where continuing to play him is not enhancing our team's ability to win and it is preventing us from exploring other options... Eg Broomhead, Aish. Not playing him should be a no - brainer.. 99.9% of random pissed punters at the pub can see this... But our match committee can't t. It's just another example of the poor decision making that has rotted out our club for the last 5 years. That's the real reason for the angst.
Otherwise,,, I'm all ears as to why you think playing Blair ahead of say Aish is a good decision by the club.

As I have said in plenty of posts I agree with the consensus that Blairs time is up and he is lucky to be getting a game this year. Still he did a good enough job last week to keep his spot this week. If I had a say I would like Kirby in instead but accept the MC sees merit in Blair this week. Broomy and Aish have been underwhelming this season so need to do more to establish themselves. I have no qualms about the MC having them in the 2nds currently. Their form doesnt anywhere near warrant automatic inclusion.

What I don't get is the statements like "It's just another example of the poor decision making that has rotted out our club for the last 5 years." For me thats just too strong a reaction. Along with plenty of others views, just used yours as an example. Really dont see it as a major issue one way or the other. I hope Broomy or Aish or Kirby really light it up in the next few weeks and push past Blair clearly. Until the do I dont have a big problem with the current selections.

Yeah no doubt North will roll us.

We've already seen many times over the last few years what a Buckley coached side produces after they know the season is officially over.

Its been hard for the players to believe they can win... more energy seems to be going into convincing themselves.

If that comes....

And the young Turks go up by natural progression .... then we may just be a fine side

It's ahead of us now....

Yeah, the 2016 3 point loss to the Doggies in R21, followed by the 71 point win against GCS in R22, followed by the 1 point loss to Hawthorn in R23 highlights just how quickly they'll fall away.

IMO Brace yourselves people Buckley WILL be coach next season!!!!
As for playing kids we have a good core group of youngsters playing together and the more they build games together the better they will be.
Degoey 21, Grundy 23, Elliot 24, Treloar 24, Langdon 23, Sharenberg 21, Adams 23, Phillips 21, Crisp 23, Moore 21, Hoskin Elliot 23, Maynard 20.

that's 12 players 24 or younger thats is a fair spread i think, i am all good for giving games to younger players IF they have earned them and the only one i think that has earnt it is Kirby.

Or the 96 point to Richmond where Pendles publicly admitted knowing the season was over was part of it?

But you know..whatever.

Very good summation

You are a bit of a doom and gloom kind of guy?

Well still do well tomorrow I reckon

We lost to Richmond by 15 points in R20 last year.

The 91 point loss to Richmond was R21 in 2015. Came out and spanked the Cats by 48 points the following week.

But yeah, whatever, let's just go with the anti Buckley theme.

Which was followed by an 8 goal win over Geelong the week after. Does that make a loss this week very predicatable?
