Great to hear, looked really bad walking off on crutches at half time on Sunday.

You'd think he would need a full game under his belt though to test the foot/ankle out before being back in senior selection.

It's Kirby time, sorry it is. Give him his one game against a side that itself has plenty of young players. And with Moore, Reid, Elliott and Fasolo up forward he walks in as the fifth forward, not a lot of pressure on him there.

Then after one game (unless he tears it apart) drop Kirby back to the VFL so he can kick 10 against North Ballarat and win the Frosty Miller medal.

All good.:)

So;

Out; Blair (won't happen but should), Thomas (had a few games but Wills offers more IMO)
In; Kirby (wont happen but should), Wills

If Kirby gets a game then unless he's absolutely terrible you need to bite the bullet and allow at least 2. A last round debut the exception of course.

Out: Blair (Omitted), Thomas (Omitted), Goldsack (Rest),
In: Brown, Aish, Cox

Reid to play CHB as backline needs extra height, Goldsack was poor on Sunday and looks like playing CHB is taking its toll, against North not sure we can play him as a KPP given they have Brown, Waite and Daw. Cox takes Reid's place in the forward line. Thomas has been decent since coming back but has been down the last two games and I would like to see Aish given till the end of the season as an inside mid. Would love Kirby to come in but just can't see it this season. Brown to take Blair's role, will probably put up similar stats but at least Brown can improve.
Goldsack humiliated a man who was seven cm taller and 15-20 kg heavier for 2 and a half quarters and when the Crows got on top Jenkins got some cheap over the top marks and goals. Goldy was sensational with his one on one work and rebound.

I love Goldy as much as the next man... but I'm still trying to get over that dropped chest mark with 70 secs to go in the last on Sunday...Anyway, if he's fit he isn't going to be rested. Wills if fit comes in for Blair..Thomas on the cusp, may be swapped for Aish. Thomas is clearly shrewd, he sticks close to Wells and they feed off each other quite often..

Hold on to your hats but I think Buckley is ready to unleash his love children in Broomhead and Ramsay, both should never play again in my opinion but to serious I think it's time for KIRBY to get a game, just so he knows what it takes to play seniors

Bad form??....you cant be serious. He has had a fantastic year with alot to look forward to in the coming years...
Be that as it may, his form dropped off about a month ago. A couple of games in the VFL wouldn't have hurt him. In fact it would have invigorated him in my view and made him a better player when he returned to the senior side. On the other hand certain players have been stuck in the VFL unable to get a look in in the senior side. To name just a few:
Keeffe - promoted to the senior list ahead of Thomas but can't get a game
Schade - demoted after showing good form in the senior team. Can't get back his place back despite Reid going forward and Goldsack being used as a CHB
Cox - playing behind Moore who is preferred as the second ruck
Reid - dropped from the senior side, deemed behind Goldsack
Mayne - dropped after a couple of games. Can't get back in.
Scharenberg - dropped for no reason after he got back in the senior side

Great post, unfortunately you completely missed that he's playing injured and a week or two rest could be best for him and the team long term. Individual acolades coming into consideration is a joke, and not resting a player due to F/S calculations.. wow
We don't set selection strategy based on Brownlow/ Copeland votes. Picking teams with the future in mind is list management 101. It means you move out older guys not in the frame for your next period of contention and bring in younger players who will be; and who need the experience. It's pretty basic stuff! Resting guys who's output is hampered by injury like Treloar for a few games is also a very good idea for both the player and the team.
You both ignored the last couple of lines in my post...
"If he is injured, and is a liability to the team if he plays, fair enough...."

My point was that it is good culture to pick players that are in form, and select the best team available. Not selecting players when they deserve to be in the best 22 creates problems. Players leave for "greater opportunity". If you want to move them on, fine, don't select them, they will be pissed, and look elsewhere (Brown, Cloke, for example).

And i know we don't select players based on awards and accolades... My point was that all players want to play seniors, because they most likely have got performance clauses in their contracts. If they are best 22, and deserve to play, we should select them. Not doing so will create issues for that player. We want to instill the concept that if you work hard, and are best 22, we will select you. And you will get rewarded as per your contract.

There is no "if" he is injured, he is playing with an injury.

Maybe. But maybe not enough to stop him playing..

Maybe the situation is that the Medical team say he is ok to play. Maybe they say that playing will not cause any further damage. He himself says he is fine to play, has got all the clearances, and wants to play. What do we do there?
I like to believe our club is not that incompetent to play him if he is injured, or if it could cause further damage by playing him and not resting him. (And before reply with "they have done that in the past".. Medical staff would have his best interests first and foremost. But they aren't infallible.)

Still, it would be good to get games in some young'uns. Just hope the opportunity comes along without pissing off players that deserve, are able, and want to play (especially if we want to keep those players).

*Has Blair had his flu shot this year?

Jenkins humiliated Jenkins in the ifrst half - kept on dropping uncontested sitters in frontof goal. Once he started playing respectably he dominated.

The culture should not be so focussed on the individual. Players understand it's a team sport and that there is a longer term play at stake for the team when it comes to selection. In cases where a best 22 player is carrying something and it is hampering their ability to play and enjoy the game... Then resting them and managing them is the sensible option.
Playing hampered by an injury is not fun. It can really ruin your ability to enjoy your footy... Keeping players mentally fresh is important too.

Yep-I just imagined Goldsack buffeting him off the ball and breaking away from him and setting up rebound from our defensive fifty. Even Leigh Matthews and others commented on his game. If Jenkins was off his game early I will just suggest Goldy went off his game in the second half. I recall Goldy bumping the big lug in the side in the third term and he went down like a sack of spuds-Goldy pounced on the pill but his handball was intercepted in a two on one contest. Jenkins probably tripped over a blade of grass. Goldy has done the job on Jack Reiwoldt and Joe Daniher this year-conceding weight and height-he is a true warrior.

Most senior players would be carrying some sort of niggle into games this late in the season. Treloar had a couple of quiet games but seems to have worked through that. If it's getting the okay from the medico's and Treloar is fine playing through it then I don't see why he should be rested. Unless of course they intend to send him off for surgery.

Walshy has put a line through Wills for a week or 2 which is a shame. Would have liked to see him play out the remainder of the season.

Aish could be auditioning for a spot in the North Melbourne senior 22 next year.

I think the kid will be fine so happy to retain him but their 2017 2nd and 2018 2nd and we'd have to think seriously about it.

In : Aish
Out : Phillips

Phillips had a poor game with fumbles & turnovers under pressure. Not the only one but his errors stood out like a sore thumb

With Wills being unavailable I'd suggest there might only be one change but obviously not Wills returning.

In: Daicos
Out: Blair

Think Daic's might be down the order assuming he gets up with the ankle injury.
