I swear the closer the game the more trips to the fridge for me. It’s the only way I cope in a tight tussle, have another drink
2010 prelim night the nerves and the adrenaline of that first quarter were that out of control i drank that much i was pretty much pissed by half time. Best quarter of footy to me ever. I think i spilt a beer after Johnno's goal. Cant remember

from memory (its sketchy so happy to be corrected) long matched up against cripps in a game last year .... and got absolutely burnt at stoppages

on form long deserves a spot .... just not sure this is the best match-up for him
Checkers used to get touched up by McGovern from WC for fun too but players learn and improve. Longy looks like he has hopefully as well. Be another nice little thing if a fringe player keeps Cripps under control

We were flying out to Europe that night, so we watched on TV.
Talk about getting a holiday off on a high!
One of my best ever footy memories.

The baulk and then the long helicopter kick was beautiful

Outside of the Richmond game, they're not going as badly as people are making them out to be. And unfortunately Port has exposed themselves to what they are currently, and I'd say we're not going quite as good as we think we are.

We should win this game by 4 goals but as others have said we need to be ahead early. They'll already have doubts about their second halves, but we don't want it to be left up to that.

Yes - in Pendles’ milestone game that we won by a point.

But Long is playing better now and Cripps looking fatigued and not at the peak of his powers, so Long now has a better chance of limiting Cripps’ impact.

I had the pleasure of talking with Benny about that goal at Heights Reserve in Mooroolbark. He was warming up with the Doncaster boys and I caught his attention and told him he was one of my favourites at the Collingwood Footy Club. He immediately jogged over to me (I was sitting on a grassy slope in a portable chair) squatted down next to me and we chatted for five minutes about that prelim. He told me he had watched the replay only a week before. When I asked him how it felt to kick that goal and hear that Collingwood army roar, he grinned and said, "Awesome!"

We even argued about which crowd was louder- the 2002 prelim when Pebbles kicked that 80 metre drop punt or Benny's running goal in the 2010 prelim.

Anyway- he was a delight and jogged back to his team with a big smile and a "cheers mate!" It made my day.

You're overthinking it. Cameron will play most of the minutes that TDK is ruck regardless of whether Cox plays or not. And then the second rucks will match up for the rest of the time.
Do we have an advantage with the 2nd Ruck being Cox over Silvagni - clearly the answer is yes.
So then the decision becomes whether this is a potential game winning advantage in combination with Cox stretching the Carlton backline OR is Cox a liability?
Clearly you think the later so I’m keen to hear why.

It's a very difficult week to predict the changes. If the Frampton talk takes place and checkers is back then Cox will be dropped I would imagine. There might not be room for Long, which would be a shame. Perhaps McCreery or Lippa start as sub. Very hard to predict
I wouldn’t go with Frampton regardless of McKay’s availability, but if they go that way one of Membrey or Cox misses and I just don’t see it being Membrey. In terms of a sub I’m going to have Elliott as a smoky. He’s started the season strongly, but there seems to be a concerted push on load management this year and I like the concept of a senior player starting in the vest.

I don't think Cox is a liability, nor do I think that silvagni will play second ruck - he didn't last week - he played very well in defence. I just don't think that the 20% of game time that Cox would play ruck is that crucial. You get an advantage in the ruck contest, but there's many ways to counter that advantage, so I don't see it as a definite advantage to pick a bloke entirely based on that 20% of ruck time - his 50% of game time as a forward is what you'd primarily be picking him for - and I think we'll go with the other 3.

I'm not super confident that Frampton should play tbh. It appears that he might get the nod though. I like the Elliott sub thing though.
