Seemed that long ago I had to go look up the match day on the afl site to see who played and remember it. I think I heard that Paparone had a good reserves match and might make a case, Tommy Cutler will be good to go, Zorko back as well.

Keays and Hammelman out for Zorko and Cutler.

What's happened with Paparone? Just form? Haven't watched lions as much this year but last few years seemed like he was in the right track.

Hopefully Lions can get some continuity with selection and avoid any more injuries. Been a sh1t run that's been lost in the media when analysing fortunes. Conveniently I'm sure with the media agenda running at the moment.

Would like to see the Hammer get another run to build confidence. I think we may have found a good backman and they have Lynch and 2 metre Peter to cover. Zorko and Cutler are must haves and we must keep Matho so it gets down to 2 of Keays, Lester,Jansen,Taylor. Gold Coast are a quick side when up and about so sorry Ryan your gone and I think we will need the pace of Keays and Taylor over Jansen. So Lester and Jansen out for mine. I would like to see Keays played as a small defender on Matera.

They have Day too in the forwards, I think Hammer gets another week, or at least I would like to see him get another week. I keep Jansen I think he is finding his feet and did some good things last game. If Hanley isnt right he needs to be rested, because you cant have a guy who is clearly frustrated with his own performance, carrying on like that.

Yeah they seem the most obvious selections. Although I still wonder whether Harris Andrews is fit enough to play given the injury concerns he was obviously carrying against Richmond. Unless it has gotten a lot better, he might have to come out instead of Hammelman.

Clearly time for the football department to wield the axe and stop picking on the younger players.

Maybe I'm forgetting some instances, but I think we've been a bit reluctant to drop players after only one outing. Billy Evans is the only one I can think of. I wouldn't be shocked to see Hammelmann hold his spot.

Personally, I'd be inclined to drop Taylor for Zorko and push Hanley to the HFF for most of the game so there's less running pressure on him. His kicking for goal hasn't been great, but he remains one of our best kicks into F50 IMO. Then Hammelmann or Andrews (injury permitting) out for Cutler. We'd be a little shorter in the backline, but we'd have a bit more speed and ball use.

Pretty sure Day has been in defence most of the year. Unless Andrews is out I'm not sure 4 lock down defenders are the way to go. The match ups wont suit, they'll have two big boys in lynch and Wright then the rest is quite small, even if they do put Day up forward we would still be to tall.

Day was playing defence until they got May and Thompson back, is playing forward now. The three bigs is working for them.

What happens if we lose this by 60?
This is a valid question DERRINALPHIL.
Will there be a 'straw that broke the camel's back' this year in terms of the coach and/or the continued selection of non performing senior players or has the club become so habituated to losing that the view is nothing can be done and supporters should simply accept loss after embarrassing loss?
Is there any understanding at the club of how low we have to go before we have hit 'rock bottom' and we have to do more than 'shuffling the deckchairs' and consoling ourselves that the 'band is still playing' as we sink further and further into oblivion. Has it got so bad that we are now accepting comments like,"I thought Leppitsch handled himself well in the post match press conference," after another thrashing as a sign that somehow things are on the mend or as some sort of morbid consolation prize?
After this season, what sales pitch will the Club trot out to help retain current members or more importantly, grow our membership base in 2017, or have we given up on growing our membership base? Has the Club adopted the attitude that we are too important to fail and the AFL will keeping tipping money into us? Is that the sort of club we want to become?

Anyroad, good question 'PHIL.

Don't expect us to win as the Suns getting some groove back. Do not drop Jansen he is finding something
So then who Keays and Taylor?

People can sit there and go Oh Martin or Dangerfield are totally different types of player to Rockliff. But they are all the No1 Midfielder for their respective sides and all can find the ball on the inside and use it on the outside. So if Rocky wants money like those two are getting (though keep in mind Dusty was on the market and nobody bit a couple of years ago) then he needs to be as effective as those guys.

I thought the Collingwood and Freo efforts were straw that broke the camels back type of performances but clearly not. We have lost our last 8 games by 77, 78, 63, 48, 38, 83, 49, 42. I think if there was a chance of it happening mid-season, it would have happened by now (barring something like five 100 point losses in a row).

Too simplistic an argument. I could argue that because Boak, Jones, Murphy and Ward are #1 midfielders in their teams and Rocky is more effective than those, he should be getting paid substantially more.

Other than Murphy I would argue against him being effective as any of the others.
