Was trying to remember the last time we debuted a young ruckman, drafted by us. I don’t think Cox fits the category - he came via a different pathway - and Cameron was already on Sydney’s list. Then I remembered Grundy (who played in his first year with us) and Witts.

So not that unusual - but it feels like a long time since we’ve done this.

With Smits supposed attributes the new rules should suit him?

Can’t wait for the confusion from the commentary box when we line up for the opening bounce (yes I know it’s not a bounce but fkd if I’m calling it something else) and we’re lining up with Steene in the ruck and Cameron at CHF.

Commentators might be confused but GWS won't....Steene played just about the whole praccy match against em. Good luck to the lad I reckon.

Reasonable, more dangerous around goal, worry for Steene will be if he gets dragged back he could be exploited but I back our system to support in this case

Very good question. I suspect McStay can’t. But you can’t tell from two weeks and you can’t make a judgement as good as the clubs because of their detailed knowledge. We have Checkers and Cox gone. We have Buller in and a couple of good young prospects. Action too quickly could impact players and team poorly. Our structure and game plan have both changed. Also old players start slow for a new season. There is a lot to resolve. I like slow and cautious cause I am.

We might not have won the thing in 2023 without Dan. But peak Dan was a 7 weak block of 10 possessions and 2 goals a game. To me, if that's his peak, you don't let him go under the peak for very long.

Membrey was uncharacteristically inaccurate against Adel - if he’d kicked 3, not sure he’d be suggested as an omission.

The only one of those three we lost was Lynch. Ceglar was delisted and Moyle never one of ours.

I’m working on the assumption that Oscar will handle the centre bounces and Cameron will do the bulk of the work around the ground while Oscar drifts forward

I could see it predominantly being a centre bounce thing

Will be stiff to get dropped after his second game at Collingwood. Can't see membrey getting dropped and having all off buller, dc and Oscar in the same team.

I rated Smit highly initially but seems to have stalled in development amd now being played in multiple KPP roles

Yeah hopefully Steene becomes a regular and Smit can find form in the VFL #1 ruck spot… would be nice to have more ruck depth
