Marshall if he wants to play and Johnson if he is fit, not sure who for at this stage, regardless of changes though a game plan that replicates yesterday's 3rd term as much as possible.

No more of the slow, crab like BS that takes as long to get the ball into our forward 50 as it did to build a section of the great wall.

My problem with the post was the naming of Jasper as the replacement, if we leave out Clurey or Hombsch.
The day of the gold pass is gradually being weeded out. I said in an earlier post that Jasper needs to string together three above average Magpie games and not be out there making up the numbers.
Yes, drop one of the taller backman but replace with the likes of Marshall (if ready) or Trengove.
It will interesting to see if there is still “hate” out there for Sammie Gray, Neade and Houston.
Happy to be corrected, but I don't think there's any hatred on this board for any Port player. The only thing any of us want is to see the club succeed, and we want the best possible 22 in the side that help in achieving that aim.

I reckon one of Clurey or Hombsch (my personal preference would be Clurey) needs to drop out for Pittard for team balance’s sake. We barely need three KPD’s against a Lynch and Wright-less GC, let alone four. Your best 22 needs to be your best team of 22 players, not necessarily just your best 22 players.
Why when we put a good defensive performance in would you drop a defender again. They all are working together really well and there is absolutely no need to disturb that. You can't play any of our small defenders on Jack Martin because he is too good overhead. Between him, Crossley, Young and Day there are plenty of match ups.

Wingard for Johnson if he's ready. His attitude still stinks.
Could drop Watts for Marshall but I reckon Jack will start to play better with Marshall back in.
Ebert out for Atley. Ebert is a hack and he's not even taking the oppositions best midfielder anymore. If he's taking Yolman at stoppage and we are having to use SPP to tag I think its time for him to take his woeful kicking back to the magoos.

Watts was important for us in the third quarter. Was involved in many of our link up plays that lead to goals. Spent little time up forward.

Only change you would consider is to bring Marshall in. Not Pittard.

I’m struggling with Watts and Dixon at present. Neither are doing well enough and their inability to get on the scoreboard is standing out in a forward line that has not kicked enough goals all year.

In the long-term, I would be prepared to play Frampton ahead of Watts as our third tall forward if Watts doesn’t come good.

It is the way they are being used, neither Dixon or watts are playing in the forward line for large sections of the game. Against the Crows Dixon rarely went past the end of the centre square and I don't recall seeing him inside of the 50M arc. Watts ventured further forward in the second half and we looked the better for it. We might as well drop Charlie and replace him with a more mobile midfielder if his role is simply to chase kicks up the field. We have two 197cm forwards who yesterday did not have a single shot on goal and that is down to the game plan not the players.

Between them Dixon and Watts had 24 possessions and 11 marks yesterday which would have been enough to do some damage had they been in the forward line.

Watts and Dixon left the forward line to open up the crows roll off zone so they can't exploit the 3rd man up to a contest that they have used against us to great effect in the past. The moment we started getting both of them up the ground the crows struggled to deal with the smaller forward line. (Ala the 2017 GF)

Yeah, so we recruit a 200cm 105kg forward and play him as a midfielder? If you are going to do that don't play him and pick a genuine midfielder instead. The Crows almost won despite the theory of it all. If you are going to have a 200cm forward use him. That 3rd man up sounds great but if you play two key forwards the opposition is going to have great difficulty with a three up on both of them.

No! Our defence works lovely without the likes of Pittard, we have Motlop and Polec who drop back enough to give us the run.

Yep and Thalia was stranded at the half way because he had to follow Dixon allowing our small forwards to cause havoc.

He drew Adelaide’s excellent tall defender out of the 50.

Unchanged.

Get Marshall back playing SANFL the next 2 weeks. Then call him up after the bye.

Johnson, Pittard, Trengove and Barry all on the plane to China as emergencies.

I'd drop Houston usually but considering he didnt play in China last year, he probably stays in.

No changes

He'll be in Shanghai so won't be next week.

I take it you didn’t watch the third quarter then when his pinpoint kicks into the corridor played a huge part in us getting back into the game?

Houston’s transition on this board from golden child to whipping boy this year has been ridiculous.

Agreed, plus it would be a much better forward set up if the likes of Neade and S. Gray had at least one tall forward to work with.

Don't think Marshall will be ready, so no changes.

He should take all the time he needs, but when the time is right it's not clear who he should replace. It won't be one of the KPDs - that's another issue. Needs to be a forward. Robbie and Chad are locks, as are Dixon and Watts - we wouldn't drop either regardless, but adding Marshall will hopefully improve both of their games. Neade showed his value and will also work better with another tall, and Motlop is secure as a mid/forward, which leaves Sammy Gray, who despite inconsistency gets into a position to provide a forward option as much as anyone in our current gameplan, and Boak, who is probably the weakest link up forward but won't be dropped. If there are no injuries it'll be tough to determine what our best forward lineup is with Marshall.

Haven't watched the replay. I dont dislike the kid, I just think he lacks confidence at the moment.
