Hey guys, I saw this video today: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=tk5fyBfUAhs (Warning: bad language) and whilst I realise that the nature of soccer is that there's less time spent watching the game closely, and more time spent making chants like that, I still wonder if we could ever get a really loud chant going across the ground, other than the standard GEE-LONG (followed by a few claps).

I'm certainly not suggesting that we should be too offensive either, but just anything, like perhaps a We Are Geelong chant where everyone sings it (we did one in the GF and it was awesome though not so big) or we are the champions even. I don't know anything about the cheer squad, but I know that if a lot of cats fans were at least aware of it, then the next game we're all at when someone starts it, perhaps we could all join in. At Skilled Stadium I think it could really work too.

There is always a group of guys in standing room at TD or the MCG and they do the best chants! So much better than the "oi oi oi" chant.

The poms do us like dinners in the singing songs at sporting events department. Been to few EPL games at Stanford Bridge and they are bloody good. You're right mate, its a bit better than
dut dut dada dut dada da dut - Gee Long.

I've said many a time on here and elsewhere, I'd like to get that Gary Glitter song 'Leader of the Pack' that goes "Come on come on, come on come etc" but saying "Ja-Long, Ja-Long...Ja-Long, Ja-Long".

Let's face it, no one says GEElong.

I reckon it would be an awesome chant to get going.

i ****ing hate the GEE-LONG clap clap clap chant.....i try to spicy it up a lil by changing it each time i.e.

Gee-long Clap clap clap
Black thong Clap clap clap
my bong Clap clap clap
big shlong Clap clap clap
ding dong Clap clap clap

ect.

The poms are great at singing because there isn't much to cheer about in soccer for 90% of the time so they sing and chant. AFL is punctuated by too many impressive pieces of skill and BAAALLLLLLs to have a real cohesive ongoing chant. The best time for us is between when a goal is kicked and the center bounce, have a song for whoever kicked the goal. That'd be cool if they whole Cattery knew the words.

You people constantly slag off the beautiful game yet you want to be like us I know AFL crowds are lifeless like when yous when you played the Dees this season you could hear the seaguls feasting. Unfortunately AFL is puntuated with too many skill errors, slopping play, ugly incidents and too many scores eg like Basketball to really get sort of decent atmosphere going at games.

it would be hard to get it going with only a few people. But If the cheersquad could start it, then everyone would follow and it would probaly work.

Hah, ok which people am I? Where is my constant slagging? It's not my fault the way a sport is designed. Fact is they sing and chant in soccer but the moment something happens they stop and start cheering - what I clearly said was that in the AFL there is too many cheering & vocal events during a match for soccer style singing to take place. You are so damn sensitive about your precious soccer you really missed my point.

You clearly hate AFL so I am not going to bother answering anything else you raised in your post ... but why you are reading and posting on these forums is confusing.
