Opinion Chappys book

That cover is a shocker. He plays in 3 GF teams and wins a NS medal and his brief stint at Essendon represents half of the cover. If it was a GAJ book it would be OK to see his time at the GCS represented as he has done amazing things there. Chappy on the other hand achieved next to nothing as a player at Essendon.

"WHEN I first joined Essendon I was excited to play with BJ (Brendon Goddard). He did a lot of talking and at first, I enjoyed listening to what he had say. He reads the game well. Unfortunately I found him to be too self-centred. At Geelong I saw first-hand how effective that selfless attitude could be, so listening to BJ was like lighting a short fuse."

"...When we played Geelong in Round 15, 2014, it was naturally a game I wanted to play really well in. Unfortunately I didn’t. We were getting flogged in the first half and Brendon was getting very frustrated, as were we all. There were Geelong blokes everywhere when BJ screamed at me, “Where’s your man?” I said, “Right there, where the f*ck is your man?” Then his eyes seemed to glaze over and he lost his cool."

Should be an interesting read...

251 Geelong games, 29 with the Bombers. Maybe the cover could reflect that?

I reckon, though, that the size of that Bomber pic grew larger as his disappointment with his GFC contract offer grew.

Why am I not surprised that Chappy is a "throw an ex-teammate under the bus" type?
I'm not suprised that Goddard is a self centred sook :D

I love honesty. Too many people in this world are yes Sir, no Sir men... Chappy speaks his mind and I value those traits in a person.

That's true- and, when discussing SJ, Chappy said he always said things to Stevie's face, not behind his back like others did.
This is a glimpse of the Stevie J that we all think we know:

"Off the field, Stevie is a funny guy — good to be around and great for morale. He would get pissed and talk about himself, as only Stevie can. But his humour was always very much appreciated."

Hmmmm...

I know this is off topic but I can't for the life of me find anyone/anywhere that is still retailing Matthew Scarlett's book... anyone know where I can find it, it would be much appreciated.

From the angry young man who arrived at Geelong following the tragic accidental death of his brother Glenn in 1998, to the horrors of the Bali massacre four years later, Chapman tells his story with brutal honesty which is the only way he knows.

He didn’t want this book to be a reflection of the 280 games he played with Geelong and Essendon, claiming he had read too many of those over the journey. Instead he chose to share the reasons behind Geelong’s extraordinary run of success between 2007 and 2011, the coaching philosophies of Mark Thompson and Chris Scott and the personalities of the men he played with.

Fair to say I'm looking forward to the entire read.
