Chatroom abuse

I entered chat for the first time last night and was disgusted by the foul language there. A character by the name of Mags was the worst. I wont be letting my 13yo son in there until I know it's safer.

Here is JUST SOME of what was said. And this is the tame part!

I have to say, I've seen worse comments come out of that chat room, so if Mags is gonna get banned for that, a few others should've been before him.

The chatroom is mostly inane rather than offensive.
Mags is at least a name I associate with intellegent posts on the boards. But.....

How come whenever I read a post that is:
1) ignorant as if a an 8yr old had written it
2)offensive or trying to make trouble
3)masquarading as a supporter of a team they obviously hate
4) obviously a new front for an old idiot
5) tattle-tale pathetic

The date of joining is always Oct, Nov or Dec 2001????

Like it or not swearing is a part of life and if you keep you kid away from all situations where they may be exposed to swearing, you may end up with a social ******.

That's right - like it or not...........

And part of being a parent is making decisions on what and where is or isn't appropriate for your child.

As for swearing in chat.......it is common - we are all guilty of it..........there are however times and places for it. I know that I have modified my behaviour in there on many different occassions depending on who is in there - and especially what age group they may be from.

What you talk to a 25yo about, and in the manner you say it, is more than likely not going to be appropriate for a 15 yo.

It's fine to be yourself in the chat room- but part of yourself should be the reality of catering to different situations. If you can't do that, or refuse to do that, or don't do it just to stir - then yes - ban them.

If you ban people for swearing in chat and a bit of banter, then you may as well ban every member on BigFooty.

Everyone swears, and if you deny it then you'd probably be lying. There is a time and place for it but this is nothing different to anywhere else such as the schoolyard.

Yeah u r damn right me and lioness are important! but just build a bridge and get over it. there is no way of stopping it. Everyone gets heated up over something and lets go of a few **** words every now and then, but u gotta admit it is getting to be more and more frequent in everyday life.


as for chat. how the hell can it spam? me thinks mrboy is the "right hand man" of cactus dude who started all this.

Swaering has long been a part of BigFooty chatroom culture BUT I think it's fair enough that Bluey bans those who continue to ignore the warning posted on the main board last night.

People have got away with it in the past because nobody had really been told to tone down the language.
