I would imagine that's why the thread title is:How much are you willing to pay? If you're just gonna use it for study & maybe a bit of web surfing you dont need the lastest & greatest bits of hardware. Something cheapish would do the job.

if it is just for study get one of those Acee's. Not sure if that is the exact name but it is around $500.
Theres a few acers or HP's around for 470-500 or some are a bit more but you get a cashback so it ends up about the same figure. Or you could go down the netbook path where you have either the MSI wind or the Asus EEEPC's. Keep in mind these have smaller screens though so if you're going to be staring at the screen for a long time, your eyes may begin to strain. The wind has an 8.9" screen while the eeepc's have anywhere between 7" to 10" depending on the model you choose. Im looking to buy an eeepc 1000h at the end of this year, they're great little machines.That's about how much I'm wanting to spend, max.
