Considering most of this board is happy with the current squad, any thoughts on a cheap trade. E.g. Medhurst for pick 31 ?? At least you would be sure HE would have a shot from 40 metres out and not look to pass, unlike the rest of the side.

I would love to get Ryan Crowley from Freo for a 3rd rounder. A friend of mine told me the pies have offered him 150k for 2 years and freo are only offering a 1 year deal on base payments. He was very good on debut against the cats at skilled on that fateful day.

Yo buddy.
How would you like Andy Krakour????? It seems plenty over on the home board are intent on raffling him off. Why? I'm not sure. Doesn't make any sense to me. Can hurt teams, despite not having the best skills, and a great tackler (although hopefully that is not in the same vein as Liberatore - loeading tacklet 12 years running as he was always second to the contest. Oh, Kurt Angle, it's true, it's true!!!!) But Andy far better value than Medhurst.
Your list looks pretty settled to me and still some improvement to come from some, possibly even Playfair. Consider the example of Benny Gale at Tigerland. Seemed to have 80 odd game sunder his belt at one stage by default, but by age 26 was as reliable as Carlton Draught my friend. Helped us win games and often saved games dropping back in defence. PLayfair struggles, but he may develop and with Nathan Ablett lurking behind him, like your chances of going a step or two further with the addition of one, possibly two experienced players as you suggest. :)

I would take Andy off your hands old chap in a heartbeat. Then we could draft his cousin and we could be like the kangas of the 80's. Goldust is there anything coming from your neck of the woods. Maybe the next Nick Daffy ??

ALL the talk this way is Jezza Clayton (ex-Kangaroos) get another crack at te big time after dominating the SANFL this season (although that may say more about the standard of the SANFL more than anything). He just won the Magarey but has a ruptured spleen. A bit of a roughie is Clayton's former Warracknabeal teammate Tim Inkster who has been carving them up with the Eagles this season and may be a draft roughie, given he would be 21 or so now, but probably worth a shot. Hey Centrals dominate this competiton, but have an experienced and settled combination and won't provide too many draft picks.
As for the Tigers, talks involving fevola. I see maybe a second round pick and Ray Hall (the guy who didn't want to go to Geeelong - silly boy!!!) as the nly likley tradeable player. He had a very good year and he isn't what we want to lose in a key defender, but Fev would be worth the risk. Very complimentary of the Tigersa and Wallace in a speech I herard this year at a function and a forward line with him Richo, Pettifer and the returning Browny, with support from Krajour and the returning Krakour capable of producing 20 goals plus a week.

Fev & Richo in the same team!
On their good days, they would kick 15 between them, on their bad days...whoah, watch out team mates ;)

Maybe a forward running midfielder with skills. Maybe a Hedland on a last chance

Medhurst could maybe offer something but only if cheap.

Salopek or Watts would be an astute buy. McConnell for the WCE is a very very good player and wants out. Think they will want to much for him. 2nd round pick would be a steal for that kid.

Cupido maybe on a last chance

Thats not a bad trade, i would consider that, it would release Gaz and Chappy into the midfield more.

I would love to have Medhurst. He needs a change of coach to freshen himself up. He could easily slot into our side. Would kick a couple of bags or 2,3 maybe 4 goals. Would be happy with a return of more than 25 goals.

With saying that, we already have Chappy, GAJ and Thurls to fill this void, however it might be worth a punt. Cant see it happening though.

I just dont think Geelong will be doing too much dealing come trade time this year. If we could get Fev, i would be a very happy man, cosidering i played with him.

I have been trying to get the goss from his parents as they live next door to my brother but they will not leak any information. It would be nice to have a mate in the blue and white hoops.

If jimmy wants to go, forget Taz, go for Fev... He would be HUGE in the city of Geelong!

GO CATS - I can feel a flag coming on!

What are peoples thoughts on matthew lappin?

I think he'd be handy on a forward/back flank and would be relatively cheap in terms of the trade.

Lappin I dont think would fit. He would be up against Milburn, Johnson, Wojcinski, Callan etc. for that backline spot. I just dont think he would be worth it. I think we leave things as they are and get our draft picks. Its worked in the past.

What about Tarkyn Lockyer (at the right price)?

A good user of the ball which would be nice for a change.

Did play a good one on Ablett but probably lacks the leg speed we need in the back pocket. I would say no.

Lappin is quality but he's not a cheap trade

The reason he's leaving Carlton is he wants to be in the top 6 paid players at the club. Geelong can't afford that kinda dough for a flanker.

The only reason we should even consider a trade would be for a key forward

Sign Lappin for the 3 and use him in 2006 in Ricco's role, off the bench going forward. More like a Blake Caracella than Ricco but as an impact player. Would still tear it up in a good team. Is so versatile he would fit in well too. Can play forward, back midfield, wing. Yeah I would take Lappin in a heartbeat. Good utility.

There is a forward flank position, you know.

Would be very handy.

Yeah fair call. That actually sounds alright.

HF: Lappin N.Ablett S.Johnson
F: Chapman Kingsley Ottens

Good range of height. All kick goals. Throw in Riccardi, GAblett and Playfair it sounds alright. But what would we give up for him. Would you be willing to give up Bartel. Personally I would not. Plus Lappin wants money. I dont think it would work out.

I have to disagree with the last one u mentioned Medhurst would be up against - he is younger than Thurley and already shown he is capable of kicking goals (didn't he slot 9 last in '03 over a WA?)

Medhurst would just about bring the end to Cameron Thurley imo.

I think you're splitting hairs. Medhurst is exactly 16 days younger.
