Hi guys,

did my own research but i might be missing something. moving in to an apartment soon and want to have broadband internet (but not neccessarily a phone line)

anyway from TPG, you can $29.99, but need to pay $30 for phone line or alternatively pay $22 for a telstra phone line and get the $29.99 stand alone

iinet has a similar $60 plan (including phone line)

optus have a $64 plan (including phone lone and $30 worth of calls)

if i dont want to get a phone line, im told i can get wireless mobile broadband sticks for quite cheap but i've heard very mixed reviews on these things.

basically, what is the cheapest option but also most practical option out there?

dont mind paying $60 but want to know all my options a bit better.

any help would be much apprecaited...

Cheers.

I moved house 6 months ago, and I spent a couple of months using wireless usb. I was consistently going over the download limit, and ended up spending HEAPS more than necessary.

Went with the $99 ADSL2+ Telstra bundle (200GB download limit) and haven't looked back.

Mobile broadband shits me (as it's what I'm restricted to over here), slow, drop outs, small limits.

Does the apartment already have a phone line installed? You may be able to get 'naked' ADSL2, which means you don't play line rental. These plans are generally more expensive though so the savings might not be much.
