Cheer squad sackings

So does anyone know why the two "large" men that once ran our cheer squad were removed??

I spoke to one of them on Saturday and the reason he gave is simply f@cking disgusting if it's true and I have no clue why he would lie.

I think if true Peter Gordon should immediately be sacked. And don't get me wrong I think Peter Gordon is the man we need so I'm not against him til I heard this.

I want to know if anyone on here has heard why before I comment on it and if you want to speak to the men involved go to any Nth Footscray game and ask them yourself personally.

I don't know of there is anymore to the story and if this man in fact had reason to lie which is why I'm asking if anyone has beard anything on this before I make comment on what exactly I was told.

And it's not what I allegedly heard I spoke to one of the men in question Saturday and HE told me his side of the issue.

So I was wondering if any cheer squad members are in here that can support the story BEFORE I SAY MORE AND THEREFORE SMEAR ANYONE

Although again I can't understand why he would lie, he also said that the club have asked him to return BUT he won't be doing so until next year AND I ALSO STATE THAT WE ALL KNOW THE 2 MEN IN QUESTION SO PLEASE GO TO ANY NTH FOOTSCRAY GAME AND ASK THE MAN YOURSELF

I live in Perth so no I'm not in the cheer squad. It was something about them treating the cheer squad as their own, instead of the clubs.

Simple argument of self determination I took out of the reading material provided.

Cheer squad wanted to be independent from the club, the club wanted greater control on what was displayed on matchday. Similar scenario to the Melbourne Victory FC problems of last season for them. There's always two sides to this coin, club control means more cohesion but also opens it up to it being more "cheesy" (Essendon waving blue "Samsung" flags when they were their main sponsor

). The cheer squad being independent obviously poses a more ferocious face behind the goals with more variety of flags, but also is open to fragmented support.

Don't know anyone in the cheer squad, might as well add, just personal experience/what I took out of the initial few reports.

EDIT: Unless the reason behind the move was because the leaders of the old cheer squad discovered that PG was stealing African children and turning them into robotic, mindless killing machines with a plan to blow up the sun through funds generated from our VFL attendances, I sincerely doubt that it calls for an "immediate sacking" of a president that has not for the first time saved our arses.

So what is your 'Story' then Matt, Ive been in the Cheer Squad for 9yrs and am now helping run it, I know the background to it (From other Volunteers) and I think the club made the right choice (And the Cheer Squad isn't as controlled as people think)

His name is David Porter and he ran the cheer squad with Gary Munn (who's mother started the cheer squad).

The Cheer Squad and the club have had beef for a number of years.

If you have spoken to him, I'd be very cautious about venting the "full story" on an open/public forum.

The reason why they were removed from MY point of view, is that when both of them were incharge of the cheer squad, it felt like a dictatorship were you couldn't do anything to try and get people to cheer.
If you started a chant they would shut you down, they would allow people to abuse players to the point of words i have never heard of.

They had no control of the cheer squad and it needed to change in my opinion and now that they have new people in charge it's a friendlier place for people to bring their kids and also made me join the cheer squad since i knew those two blokes weren't there anymore so i would be allowed to cheer and start chants wihtout the fear of being shut down and then proceed to be yelled at (which happened once before when i was 15 years old, since i wanted to start a doggies chant when we were down by 40 points).
Which then my dad proceed to nearly fight everyone that yelled at me.

Well with all due respect he hasn't really told it how it is, we still don't know the reasons. Calling for the Presidents head after talking to a disgruntled former cheersquad member is a smidge over the top

I haven't got a problem with people pointing out all the short comings of our club , but this just borders on the ridiculous.
Notice how he trawls up every negative he can find , and never let's facts get in the way.
Every now and then we get a reasoned argument that will buy him a little credibility , but at the end of the day he is on here to pick fights.
Maybe he is a former frustrated journo from the Truth ?
If he follows this club , which may be debatable , he needs to find another life , because all our club does is give him grief.

VD, I am really impressed with this year's cheersquad, and am very grateful to everyone who is a part of it.

But this is crap. Let the guy speak. And then you can argue with him. That's how an internet forum is meant to work.

No pre-ordained outcomes for debates, thanks. Mattdougie is many things. But I don't think he is a liar or a troll. He has something to say, so let him say it!

That's like expecting some tool who sat around all day doing nothing at work but complain all the time getting fired and then becoming best mates with the boss who fired them. It doesn't happen.
