Get the quotes and see what is what.

Then call your insurer and start asking a few questions around what sort of impact it will have on your premium if you use it.

Then balance out the pros and cons.

Like I said, I've not used mine but I'm sure I remember a few mates saying when you start using it you start impacting the costs like excess.

Things might have changed since (probably have) but a bit of leg work will probably provide some piece of mind.

Ask if any friends knows some panel beaters...they might be able to help out, mates rates and all that.

My uncle is an ex-mechanic, so he'll be doing it all and will give me a good deal.

The mirror is the most important thing. I dont really care about the dent i guess (its a 1998 Honda Civic Hatch so not the newest car lol), but it is the principle.

Will do a letter drop tomorrow, see what happens (probably nothing), then ring insurance, then get it fixed (the patient is booked in at my uncles place in a few weeks)

Bahahaha, nah I said "Dear Neighbour" instead.

Nope, no paint transfer. :(:p

The cars right next door to me are really flash expensive cars- i think a BMW and some sports viper thingy. Theres no way it would be them, smashing those cars into me.... hmmm dunno I'll see what happens.

You could always stand next to your car, as the neighbours head off to work, holding a big sign and an arrow reading;

"Which of you f**kers did this??"

I wish, they don't even pay taxes I don't think?

Shell I'd word the letter with a soft tone.

I.e. this is what has happened to my car.
Can you please check your cars in case you inadvertently hit mine or ask any friends etc who may have visited recently if they may have accidently caused the damage.

If you push the perp into a corner they wont admit it.
Try and make them feel that you'll believe that they could have caused it without knowing it. And therefor that they weren't being pricks to you.

Excess will be $500 I'd say.
So I'd just do the mirror and move on.

Also, you should check your policy to see if you get a free windscreen allowance each year.
These dont effect excess and no claims bonuses. (generally)

So every few years it's a good idea to call the insurance agency that you have a badly pitted screen.
They'll send out O'Brien who will change it. No questions asked.

You get a new screen, and you get to feel like you got something out of the insurance!

****ing f-aggot (excuse my swearing) dented my car.

Drivers side mirror will have to be replaced.

And its one of my neighbours too- I live in a dead end street.

Any suggestions about what to put in the letter I'm about to write is appreciated. I'm thinking of starting it.. Dear a-sshole...
Oh Shell that sucks :( Who does that? So dodgy.

Yeah, sucks indeed. At least I have the money to cover it- I dont wanna have to dip into my savings, but at least the money's there.

Will keep yall updated on what happens. Am going back to work tomorrow, so will type and print out the letter and drop them around tomorrow night.

You've got savings?

Sheesh, get married and have kids FFS so you're like the rest of us.

insurance wont want a bar of it unless their accredited repairer fixes it.

and if your excess is $400-$500 then no point going through insurance if the cost is around that or cheaper.

I ****ing missed the 1st hour of gates on Q&A on ABC
Dont miss the last 30 minutes!

They greatest man of our generation.

What the **** is the point of insurance then.

I should set the ****ing car on fire and get a new car.

well, if you needed $2k of repairs then you're only forking out $500.

you can decrease your excess to $200 but your premiums fly up as well.

and you have to go through their accredited repairer coz if you take it to a mate who charges you $200 cash, writes a $1k invoice to the insurance company as the cost then he is making $$$'s.
