I totally missed this post before. Seriously, can you smell smoke?

What kind of day is it in Melbourne? Isn't it way too early for fire season?
May not have been any fires, but the snakes were out and about yesterday.
3 were reported to the rangers at work yesterday in the picnic area, which is a month or 2 earlier than usual.

A boy was bitten in the Botanic Gardens in Cranbourne on Sunday.

Wow snakes aleady

There were a few fires yesterday mainly scrub fires.
WINDY weather has kept firefighters on their toes with fires in Anakie, Steiglitz and Torquay.
A watch and act message was issued to residents living near a small bushfire that started in Selway’s Lane, Anakie on Sunday afternoon.

Residents were asked to remain vigilant and enact their fire plans as seven fire crews battled to get the grass fire under control.

Seven crews were also called to a small scrub fire on Messmate Rd in Torquay about 1pm.

Meanwhile 18 crews were sent to a fire in Steiglitz.

Residents in nearby Maude were advised to have a plan in place if the situation changed as the fire also burned out of control.

Shit, that's awful, but not totally surprising.

Although snakes are a bit slower at this time of year, they tend to be a bit more feisty.

Saw a picture of one that was reported here yesterday-a whopping big tiger snake, at least 4 feet long I reckon.

That explains why we've been clearing fallen branches and trees all bloody morning at work then. Geez, I must've had the mother of all hangovers, didnt really notice the wind yesterday :drunk:

You are a real city girl aren't you Karen.. :D
I so am. I'm on sitting at my desk now on the 5th floor at work checking the floor and even the roof 'just in case' lol!

The guys I work with are soooooo happy right now, they're massive NRL fans (that's what I get for living in NSW :() and have just found out Slash is the pre-game entertainment for the NRL GF this weekend.

Very cool! I know very little about Mugby & that's the way I like it, apologies 4 stealing your lyrics Ben.. :D but could definitely put in an appearance 4 the entertainment, then leave!

But in regards to snakes you have nada to worry about unless you live near lots of grassy/rocky lots and/or a creek.. not likely in Syd but maybe in the outer 'burbs

Sounds good. Remember people were trying to guess your favourite animated movie a while back? Was it The Incredibles?
just remembered this- took me a while but i found it!

I think Incredibles is a step down from the top echelon.(no shame in that)

My favourite would still be Lion King.Amazing story line, characters and soundtrack. i reckon i actually enjoyed it more as i grew older- i guess you see the hidden meanings in the events that you just dont get when you were younger.

I actually told everyone what my favourite was- ppl were trying to guess my second favourite.

This was revealed to be Frozen. its story-line is incredible IMO- full of ranging and deep emotions and amazing characters.

I suppose one of the reasons why i like it so much was that it surprised me. i was reading some of the reviews and i thought to myself 'i doubt it will be that good. (Thats not to say i thought it would be terrible) But after watching it i realised they werent exaggerating......

the compelling story-line is not the only thing Frozen has to offer- who could forgot its soundtrack?
im guessing the first thing you think will be this.

some say annoying- i say its spectacular. Amazing instrumental, meaningful lyrics and stunning vocals.

even though Let it go is the main attraction(aka best song) it has one heck of a support cast.Songs like Do you want to build a snowman, For the first time in forever +reprise, in summer, etc. are songs that you might not remember but if you listen to them you'll find their amazing songs- both in context with the movie and musically.
I reckon it has the best OST (official soundtrack) of any animated film. (even better than Lion Kings which is no mean feat considering it boasts songs including circle of life, i cant wait to be king and hakuna matata)

It might be a bit weird for a male of my age to like love Frozen ( a movie about a princess and a queen) so much but

Karen just needs to concern herself with funnel web spiders. ;)

That is so adorable GeelongFTW -I MUST watch Frozen in the off-season. The snowman gif is the cutest thing ever.:hearts:

My brother was on a plane with the Lion King cast sometime in the last year, and they started singing the songs from the show. Think there's a video of it on youtube.
