Choco Williams...what an inspiration!
You only need to look at the fire in Dusty's eyes yesterday to appreciate the great work Choco has done to our emerging youngsters!

Bump everyone's membership up $2. The Keep Chocco Fund. Lazy $120,000 to keep him. Clearly worth it. Our kids  They're so gloriously good. :D

gotta say, with no reason for bias, the individual improvement of many of our players has been significant and noticeable:):thumbsu:

he's a champ, gotta say i rekon he has done a load of good for this club, and in such a short space of time, really really hope he sticks around for the long haul, hes a massive asset

anyone heard the rumour melb are interested in him?

Yep his name has been mentioned on their coach discussion thread. Me personally from an outsiders position I think there is a lot of off field issues that need addressing at the MFC. I would suggest that any new coach going in would almost certainly have a lot to contend with even before getting to the on field stuff. Not sure if Chocco would want that kind of heat at this stage of his career. Me I hope he's a Tiger for at least the next 2 years minimum and ideally longer. If the improvement to date is any indicator :thumbsu: Hopefully he can impact our talls in a similar way to our mids over the next year or so.

Yer, hopefully he's not stupid. :p
In all honesty, Whilst i dont want him to leave and would love Chocco around for a long long time

He would be crazy to knock back the melbourne job, He would easily get a 5 year contract at $600k and a very very good young list full of 1st round draft picks - Any coach would jump at that Melbournes list is actually in a better state than ours was when Hardwick took over

Sure the money would be nice, but why would anyone want to be associated with that basket case? And yes i know we had some problems, but gee wiz, nothing as bad as what is going on down there.

Re Chocco last night: it was fantastic. like watching a country footy coach going about his business. MEssages straight from the 'coach'. Nothing lost in translation from Box to Runner to player.

could see him going to west coast if they start looking at years end .. but thats about it

Dimma used to coach from the sidelines in his first years I believe. Good for him to be up in the box focusing on helping us win the game and having another great communicator in Choco down on the touchline shouting instructions/encouragement to the boys. Best of both worlds :thumbsu:

If asked, he'd take it too. Hence why he left GWS. Love the fact that he demands compliance from a select group of youngsters he hand picked to mentor and develop. Love it.

He'd be stupid to go to Melbourne. No one (unless deperate) would go there. Hell, even Jack Watts wants to leave. Likely will be coaching West Coast next year, if anything.

Watched the game on Fox Footy last night with the fiance (a Tiger's fan) and absolutely loved the way your boys went about it, and how often Choco was out there barking orders. Looked like he's in his element and you can tell the young fellas have the utmost respect for him. He completely had your team playing a very hard and fast counter attacking style by making them accountable for West Coast forwards and space on the ground.

Melbourne may not be able to afford that. They are looking at a minimum of 3 million loss this year already plus they have to pay out Neeld (assuming they will at some point) plus you'd think sponsors won't be clamouring to jump on or re-sign....

Very experienced operator, great teacher...lunatic, but by all reports a great bloke too. Clearly doing that mentoring/teaching role with the kids very well. A great get for us, well done by the coaching boss and Hardwick to procure a perfect fit for the role.
Maybe we're all talking about him today because Mooney was rabbiting on about him last night. But rest assured he does the same thing every week.

Something tells me choco wouldn't be short of a quid, the game would have been kind to him being a successful coach n the modern era, for a fella in his 50s with financial security, i would imagine job satisfaction would be a real priority. He may very well be champing at the bit to take the reigns, he certainly hasn't ruled it out or alternately and i hope that he may get a great deal out of heading up the development of an iconic club mentoring coaches he has worked with before. Wont be an easy decision

I agree in regards to depth of personality , the one thing Hardwick did inherit were leaders who wanted to own and see the club go forward. Newy and Kingy identifying Wallace was ruining the fabric of the club and inturn ****ing him off was a prime example. I just don't see that at Melbourne.
Any coach going to Melbourne needs to view it as the pinnacle and final coaching gig of their career, as I don't see anyone leaving there with their reputation in tact.

There is also a few clubs in melbourne who potentially in need of new coaches in the near future who may want a change ie the hawks(clarko has been there for 10 years). he might wait for them and in the mean time help us out.

You may have hit the nail i think flea ........Career coaches would know, particularly premiership ones that the merry will go round....

I am in the boat of a previous Choco- Hater...
Prasie be the Lord, AMEN, Hallejuah, the vison our father...
I AM NOW A CONVERT...
much:hearts: Choco , much :hearts:!

I think he enjoys working with the young guys, even though he may have the desire to coach again, I genuinely reckon by his last 6 months at PtA he was seriously over all the other Bull$hit that comes with being a senior coach.
