depends on the food, some foods Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese are way easier with chopsticks, but foods like Thai are easier with a fork... all depends, personally I assess each food individually but no I dont necessarily find it easier to eat with a fork....

this post sounded way to serious for the topic lol

Chopsticks all the way!

There's a lot of asian food that is better eaten with choppies. THings like tofu and sushi fall apart when you stab then, hence you have to scoop them.

Most Asian food is actually eaten with chopsticks and a spoon these days - a lot of Westerners don't understand this. Koreans for example, eat rice with their spoon and only use chopsticks for communal food bowls.

A lot of Thais, Singaporeans and Malaysians use fork and spoon to eat food. It's funny to see Westerners using the chopsticks eating this food and thinking they're really authentic, hehe.

Let it be said that I always use the chopsticks when dining in restaurants that have chopsticks, but everytime I use them I just cant help but think why they chose chopsticks as an eating implement in those parts of the world.
When they dig up their gardens do they use 2 giant sticks or a garden fork?
Are there any Asian hawks out there whom prefer Fawks?
Hope I'm not being insulting here by the way:eek:

it's a very interesting question, i don't think you're insulting anyone.

I've lived in Asia for a few years now and from what I understand, Asians prefer to use chopsticks as they can hold their rice bowl and largely eat one handed. With a fork, you can't pick up certain soft foods, especially tofu etc. Other food can get stuck on the fork and be difficult to get off... maybe i'm reading way too much into this however, :D

I do recall reading that chopsticks were invented by the Chinese some hundreds of years before Europeans stopped using hands to eat... people don't realise how advanced they were as a culture. A lot of their ancient mathematics are only just being understood thanks to modern computers.

Fork hate chopsticks because i can't use them!

seriously noosa its not hard what i do is use the ones where you snap them to make two, but i just leave it as one and then you just pry the bastards open and they auto close, works a treat mate plus you look all fancy and cultured:thumbsu:.

Chopsticks all the doohdah-day.
+ Noodles must be eaten from a box.

Sporks/Splades are for people who wear socks with sandals.
Therefore, I love them.

So do you ever eat your traditional cuisine with a fork?
Or would that be like me eating my Sunday roast with chopsticks?

What traditional Cusine? So like chinese food in general? You basically eat anything with chopsticks, noodles, rice, pasta, whatever.

If im eating asian soup noodles, ill use chopsticks. But if im eating pasta or noodles italian style, ill just use a fork because its easier.

And as for you question, no id be using a fork like you.
