Lets discuss how Collingwood can utilise Chris Tarrant, where he is best played, and how he can assist Collingwood. I love Tazza and did a lot of back round research on his injury and what he went through in 2005, here are my findings.

The injury he had to his knee was his left (his kicking leg). The injury was found to be a cist (dont know if i spelt that correct). He was told this could develop into cancer, so it was closly monitored. It affected general power in his leg, and flexability.

He never played FF in his junior days, he mainly played on the wing and in the centre, i dont believe he is traditional FF mould that will kick 70-80 goals a year and people expect that of him. I think if he is fit and firing we can get 50-55 goals a year out of him.

When fit, he should be played on the wing, taking big grabs running the ball into the forward line and floating to CHF.

What do you all think?

the only question would be on his fitness and would he be capable to run out a full game on the wing, his accountability skills might be questionable, and if he cant run out a full game on the wing, not many people can he would be better off playing at hff because he is one of those players that we cant afford to take off the ground because for us to win he needs to have an impact on the game.

Well Put! he neess to have a big pre season thats for sure. We will see next year, he is still only 24 too.

Not sure about the wing as we'd miss his ability to take a hanger up forward, perhaps across half forward would suit him best with him floating around and making those searching leads he's known for. Magnificant leap, strong grab but limited on distance when kicking for goal. More of a floating left footer than a penetrating kick for goal..

i have to say ide like to see taz play up on the wing... Ive always wanted to give him a go there. His pace, size and marking would hurt opposition sides, but what do i know, im just a supporter

How so? He leads up the wing all the time anyway, and he delivers into our forward line brilliantly.

Wingman usually have to cover both the back flank and the forward flank. A forward flanker has to lead up onto the wings, and deliver the ball into the forward line. Unless you want to see Tarrant get some of his kicks on the back flank, I believe he should be played on a forward flank where he can play that leading up onto the wings role brilliantly.

All he needs is his leg to be right, and some mates by the name of Anthony, Josh and Travis chipping in to take off some heat from the opposition

Where he plays HFF CHF or FF should be determined by who we are playing and their weaknesses

I actually do want him leading up to the back flank...

He's one of the fastest players on the team, so I think to maximise that advantage, we need to give him more ground to cover.

We're likely to have Rocca, C3, Bucks and maybe Fraser and Rusling all playing as leading forwards, so I think getting Tarrant further up the ground and out of that territory could actually work.

We've all talked about how stacked our forward line might be, but that may actually be a problem if we try to play everyone up there. Tarrant on the wing would allow us to exploit his combination of speed and strength even more than in the forward line.

Let him play where he wants in the forward line. HFF with a "roaming commission". Just like Blight did with Ablett.

Does anyone have a problem with his 2003 season? I wouldn't think so, i say play him the way we played him then, roaming forward with the license to go anywhere he likes. No need to change anyones style of game.
I know he can re-play that 2003 season again in 2006 so lets see him do that just like he did and where he did it last..

taz the centermen for me! he wants to play there so let him! imagine what he coudl do if he actually wanted to play(in that position)

Interesting.....imagine him busting the packs with his size to get the PILL!!!! i have goos bumps..

If you watch the Collingwood games on Foxfooty from a couple of years ago you will notice how well Taz was moving around the ground. This year he resembled the Tin Man before the oil change!! Get the knee right and he'll be back to his best.

Tarrant would be the perfect wingman for collingwood, speedy, athletic and a big strong body. I also think tarrant's kicking isnt that suspect, i watched him warming up for a couple of games and he has a good kick on him.

taz wingman wingman wingman, you guys have to look at the bigger picture! Taz cant play on a wing, nto because he is not able but because we already have to many outside players that arent suitable to play elsewhere! he either has to play as a leading forward or in the center or evn defence!

Yeah but how many fowards do we have aswell, if tarrant wants to play on the wing he will play on the wing because eddie and mick love him. I mean they sent him on a holiday up to Byron Bay in the middle of the season.

taz would enjoy getting away from the goal square, when fit loves to get up around the wing and can take plenty of marks pumping the ball forward. imo he has never been a real ff.

The sum total of which can’t get us out of the bottom 4.

On the other hand, Rocca, C2, C3 and Fraser can cover the tall forwards options between them plus Rusling is another leading option and then Didak, Caracella, a bit of Buckley/Burns and dare I say it Davis as the other options for forward positions.

Personally I like to see Rusling and Tarrant as the wingmen for at least the pre season comp to see how they go. Other than that we have Rhyce Shaw and Lonie as options but that’s about it. Maybe Rowe but I am a long way from convinced about him as yet. I reckon he’s at least a year off at this point.
