Anyone entering this year?

I have entered the 12km run. I have been in training for longer than last year so am confident of making the distance ... what time I can get is the question tho.

The entries seem to grow every year, from what I have heard the entries this year are well ahead of last year's as well.

It's a great day! Just wish it wasn't a Sunday. Nothing better than finishing the race then celebrating by getting royally drunk down at the Grand, Pier and Jetty Bar. Still, I am owed a couple of days off with a hangover at my workplace considering the antics of fellow staff there of late.

Pretty sure I'm going to enter the 6km run as I would be able to make that pretty easily. Would like to do the full 12 but not sure if i've left enough time to get my fitness to a decent level. We will see.

Entered the 12km walk (I am a firm believer of the "why run when you can walk" theory) 2 years ago and my time was 1:44 and 42 seconds. Not bad considering no training was done at all! I entered about a week before coz my old man didnt think I could beat him. His time was just under 3 hours :D.

For a good cause, so I may look into entering again this year. :thumbsu:

Ive only ever done it once. Reckon i was in yr 9 at the time
Registered a few days beforehand because my old man thought we should do it. 52mins. Not bad for a 14 year old with no training.

If i can get my arse into gear and register for a few triathlons over summer, i will undoubtedly rock up for a bit of a training run

52 mins is a great time. I did 48 mins many years ago when I was swimming competitively and super fit. Did 59 minutes last year tho so am on the slide. With a lot longer training leading up to the event this year I'm hoping to break 55 minutes.

Actually I want to make the top 1000 which was about 53:30 last year. That could be very tough, especially if there are more entrants this year. Still, my blisters have many months to recover after the event.

I've always wanted to wear my Crows guernsey on the run but we have had a habit of being knocked out in the Prelims that weekend or the weekend before or worse so didn't want to cop abuse from the spectators while struggling for breath down Anzac Highway!

Should the stars and the planets align you may well find that old smoovy makes his way down Anzac Highway this year as well.

I fear though before I hit West terrace my hamstrings will be begging for mercy.

Have u been in training Smoovy? Surely wandering between the bbq and the pie stand at Prospect Oval hasn't gained you the required fitness?

Yes that is good training for the 100m dash, especially when $1 pies are on offer.

Endurance wise is another question. I know I was beginning to fade badly in the last few holes on the North Adelaide South course. The walk up the 17th fairway was brutal.

I think I have run almost the equivalent of the City-Bay just chasing my stray tee shots on the "road hole" at Semaphore. A couple of mis-hit shots bouncing on the street and a curious neighbourhood dog later I was quite tired when putting for a "snowman".

Missus is walking for the Amy Gillet Foundation.

People form work are walking, might join them.

Just another good excuse for a piss up right?

If you run the 12km you have more than earned a piss up!

2 years ago I walked the 12km, arrived at the start line hung over and already reeking of alcohol from the night before, then proceeded to swig my trusty bottle of vodka and lemonade all the way to the Bay. I sobered up once I got there with a few beers.
