If anyone needs similar info on the Essendon coach, Sheeds' playing stats and related info was recorded on parchment and can be viewed at Melbourne Museum on Nicholson Street in Carlton Gardens. Recruited from Kaniva, Alastair Clarkson played 93 games and kicked 61 goals for North Melbourne from 1987 to 1995. He then played 41 games and kicked 24 goals for Melbourne from 1996 to 1997.
He was North Melbourne's Reserves Best & Fairest in 1991.
Unsure of his movements from 1998 to 2000, but I believe he was involved in some coaching with Werribee and St.Kilda.
He was appointed coach of Central District (SANFL) in 2001, and took them to the flag that year and runner-up in 2002.
He tossed in the Central District job in 2003 as he was appointed coach of the South Australian state team, and Central thought he couldn't do justice to both positions.
He was appointed to the coaching panel of Port Adelaide who won the AFL premiership in 2004.
And his greatest role .... Senior Coach of the Hawthorn Football Club, 2005 and beyond.
