To be fair plenty of people benefit from cheap labour.

Absolutely - businesses/land owners/property developers. And any new arrivals, in the instances where they've been given a job.
Anyone other than that? F*ck all else. People that tend to think otherwise....they are more than welcome to their opinion, but I disagree. And quite strongly, might I add.

What I have to make clear is that I do not blame or vilify new arrivals or immigrants in any way, as I view this is an outright disgrace, where I bitterly despise racism and bigotry. But the simple fact of the matter is, in almost all cases, immigrants (and especially foreign Visa workers) do displace local residents from getting work. This was not such an issue in past decades (particularly post WW2) when we had a labour shortage, but since then the Goal Posts have shifted, and shifted drastically. We now have a labour excess. I can quote entirely too many references that support what I've said. The simple fact is that the number of available job vacancies is continually shrinking (mainly due to technological changes), but we're continually increasing the labour pool.

From personal experience, the people that mostly oppose what I'm saying are often business owners/land owners/property developers....and/or those that subscribe to the philosophy of "Trickle down economics", and that an increasing population somehow generates wealth for all. Simply put, these theories are way beyond utter bullsh*t. Wealth comes from access to natural resources, not people themselves.
