Intrigued by jmac70s alternate reality post where us mug punters become the coach. What if a new position was created... let’s say Dictator where you had total power to fire or keep anyone at any level at the club?

Aside from players, assume there is no financial ramification for moving anyone on. Current player contracts must still be honoured or paid out Eg Grundy. You have a five year window and your goal in to revitalise the culture and set up for a further 5 year period of success after the 5 year window. Assume the pool of available people in the industry to replace the departed is what exists in reality....no imaginary superheroes.

I’m interested in who is retained from playing list, coaches, admin and board. Not really interested in who replacements are for the purposes of this exercise.

im sure someone will say keep nobody

Alexander the Great as coach..

Can change his game plan at a whim. When confronted with 100s of 1000s of Persians on the battlefield at Guagamela.. with only 40 thou Greeks.. he was smart enough to know.. not to fight against em head on.. so he used his cavalry to spread the Persian army and break through infantry lines.. going straight for the Great king Darius himself.. the Persians couldn't fight without Darius's command.. Darius combuster bricked his jocks and fled when he saw Alexander approaching him.. and the battle was over.

Moral of the story: Get a new coach that plays the game with a sense of dare surprise and freedom. A risk taker. Tenacious. Unshakeable. Chameleon like. Intelligent. All the qualities that make a coach great re.

Here's what I would do

Trade Sier to Essendon for a Second Round Pick
Trade Cox to Fremantle for a Third-Round Pick

Delist Lynch, Thomas, C Brown, C Mayne, L Greenwood, T Ruscoe
Retired J Howe

Use Essendon second-round pick for Sam Weiderman (Melbourne) If they don't like the offer, then walk away and use those points for Dacios

Get Nick Dacios and Dib in the 2021 AFL Draft
Elevate Tohill and Wilson to Senior status

Recruit Clarkston as Head Coach, Request a review within the Collingwood medical department and change the ground surface. Implement a 3 warning policy that complies with everyone who plays or helps Collingwood.

Darcy Moore becomes Captain of the Collingwood football club as Brayden Maynard, Brodie Grundy, Josh Dacios and Trent Bianco in the leadership team. Play the kids for the rest of the 2021 season, develop a new game plan in 2022 which involves more kicking than handball ratio, lowering our eyes inside 50. Grundy uses his body and tapping it to an ADVANTAGE, always playing on whenever the opportunity is there and implementing a forward press whenever Collingwood kicks behind.

Lastly, our supporters get more membership features within their packages and Footballers don't act like Robots by allowing them to post whatever they desire on social media.

A lot of keeps there which would suggest you think we are on the right track.

Can you do one for the coaches box???

If the world was facing a nuclear holocaust and I had an underground bunker complex with enough oxygen and food for ten random people, along with my two friends and some family:

1. Darcy Moore: can cut hair, can extract genes for basis of future CFC glory (long-term thinking).

2. Scarlett Johannson: nothing would bring out my charm and humour like nuclear apocalypse, I reckon she'd go for me by Day 493.

3. Andrew Bolt: he's a cockroach, so he'd likely survive nuclear winter, but the puzzle of how someone can spout so much utter trash for so long is something which might help to keep us occupied.

4. Dan Andrews: I think it'll be rather important to receive a daily briefing on our situation.

5. Peta Credlin: I think it'll be rather important to add some variety to our daily briefing.

6. Unknown Hot Woman: a focus for my attentions when Scarlett finally and heatedly refuses my advances.

7. Dave Chappelle: the funny guy, and hard to imagine the man without a shitload of weed.

8. Caleb Poulter: his hair is a throwback to primitive humankind, but the insouciance suggests a future super species.

9. I'm struggling to find another two humans. It's not that I don't like people or anything...but actually that's probably the exact reason. I think I'd raffle the last two spots on BF, because the next world will need their I'm a really generous person.

That's who I'd keep around.

Wilson has no idea or you have no idea whether to keep? :)

From our list, I'd look at moving on from Lynch, Mayne, Cal Brown, Greenwood, Josh Thomas, Madgen and Cox. Would also entertain retiring Howe (painful to see him continue to reinjure himself), and would maybe trade Sier, Ruscoe (for literally anything) and Hoskin-Elliott for the right package. That's 10+ players who all could be in the firing line. Obviously not all would go, that kind of turnover is preposterous. But Hopefully some do - preferably those on the more swollen contracts.

In the footy department I would have booted Harvey and Sanderson long ago. Firing Buckley depends on whether or not we can lure a good replacement away. I'd be happy to let Buckley go in place of Clarko, Mitchell, Yze or Kingsley. If we can't, then I'd look at retaining Bucks for 2 years while going hard at acquiring Caracella/Gianseracusa, Pyke and Choco as assistants. I'd be willing to let Skipworth or Jamar go depending on who frees up more room other acquisitions. I think Buckley would be able to succeed with a trio of assistants like those three, as they'd all challenge him in different ways.
I'm not sure about Nick Maxwell and the like.

Ned Guy has already left, so that's one good move. I'd be happy for Wright to take on a more significant list management role. I want more size on the interior and more speed on the exterior. Sick of wingmen like Mayne who are slow and positionless undynamic smalls like Josh Thomas.
I'd also have a long hard think about moving Noble on given his value should be high and I don't know if there's room for improvement. Look to Bianco to replace him.
Hopefully snag a good mid-season prospect as well as someone who is able to contribute immediately, like Keitel. Think he's better than Darcy Cameron tbh.
Would love to see us lure Weideman and Ed Richards here.
Draft Nick Daicos and Dib (hopefully have points covered from aforementioned trading of WHE, Cox & Cal Brown types. Roll into 2022 with a best 22 of:

FB: Maynard - Roughead - Bianco
HB: Murphy - Moore - Quaynor
C: Poulter - J. Daicos - Richards
HF:
N. Daicos - Weideman - Mihocek
FF: Elliott - De Goey - Sidebottom
FOLL: Grundy - Pendlebury - Adams
INT: Cameron/Keitel - Macrae - McCreery - McInnes
Fringe: Ginnivan - T. Brown - Henry - Keane - Rantall

Try and move the ball quickly at all costs. Got some x-factor up forward with Daicos, De Goey, Elliott and Sidebottom, and Daicos can rotate through the middle. More elite ball-use down back by adding Bianco, and good two-way runners on the wings in Poulter and Richards. Want to see McInnes come into the side next year to provide some grunt around the middle and allow Pendles to organise stuff from a wing/flank on occasion. Weid up forward gives us a solid leading option and Keitel can allow Mihocek to thrive in that third tall forward spot. It's a team with a lot of youth, but that's basically what we're destined for next season anyway.

For the board I want Korda and Waislitz gone, mainly because they've been there for so long and I want some fresh faces. However unsure of Browne, who would likely be a replacement for one of them.

Re: Mayne, for all the stick he’s copping on here, he’s getting games and he’s far from being our worst player on game day. Players like that don’t get delisted, especially on a list full of youngsters.
