In the Hills Football League, Ironbank and Bridgewater-Callington have had preliminary merger discussions and the Raiders have called a Special General Meeting for October 20.

Bridgewater's numbers are apparently very low.

If this merger proceeds, we may see a swift demise for the Division 2 competition through mergers, transfers to the Adelaide Football League or Southern Football League, or at worst, clubs disbanding.

Bridgewater-Callington have announced via Facebook that today club members voted on a motion to amalgamate with the Ironbank-Cherry Gardens for the 2023 season under the terms of a Memorandum of Uunderstanding jointly prepared by a sub-committee from both clubs.

The motion to merge "has been unanimously approved by the members present".

The statement said that this will "start a new chapter in our proud history and look forward to a bright, strong and successful future with our partners at Ironbank Cherry Gardens FC".
