I know is only early but: How many clubs have reappointed there coaches in 2011? What are the rumours? Coaching changes? Will Atkins still be at North? Plant and Burnie? Bourne at Devonport? Will Geapphen now coach at a higher level. Thoughts?

Plant is staying put at Burnie

BURNIE Dockers coach Brent Plant will honour a two-year contract following a full season review.

The Dockers had a better than expected season after a mass player exodus at the beginning of the year.
Plant said yesterday that he and the club sat down last week and reviewed the season in full.

"We reviewed the entire season.

"I have always had a two- year deal and the club is happy with me and I am happy with the club, so we are committed to each other," Plant said.

The main reason Plant stayed on was to watch the young kids grow and develop after the hard work was put in during the season.

With everything all but sorted, Plant is working on refining the list for next season.

"I have a list of players who I would like to have a brief chat to in the coming weeks," Plant said.

The club will specifically target a tall, someone to help out veteran big man Matthew Stephenson, who carried a knee injury through half of this season.
"We have a zone that we need to nurture and look after," Plant said.

:thumbsu: Great work Burnie Dockers. You seem to have the right man in place and I am sure he will have improved sucess in 2011. If Devonport and North Launceston need new coaches who do you think may coach? What are the whispers for the Hobart clubs?

Errol will stay at Devonport in my opinion, has done a great job over the past 2yrs, especially from where they started. If I was Errol though, I'd be looking at obtaining a decent fitness coach for season 2011. No offence to Rhys Colbeck, but it is a disgrace when a player that size is playing in the premium competition of Tasmania. The second half of the grandfinal really showed up the fitness level of both sides, but in fairness to Errol, he is paid to coach.

Plant deserves another shot at 2011 and I can see him having similar success to Errol if he can pick up a couple of more top liners.

Fill me in on what success Errol got again?

I agree about Colbeck, he struggled to run through the banner on Saturday, i saw them putting vas on the posts before he did. Would hardly blame that on the fitness coach though, he can't be responsible for his diet. 90% of the rest of devonport looked in good nick. When you blokes come down here planty i can recall a player of similar stature to Colbeck playing for you guys!

anyone know who glenorchy may appoint as their senior coach?

What's everyones thoughts on the story today that North Launceston has parted ways with Atkins?

Players loved him - from all reports he was a great coach but the club was dissapointed he hadn't moved to Launceston as per his original contract in over a year he had been at the helm and wanted the coach to commit to attending training three nights per week.

If the players played for him & he had good off field support to look after rehab night on monday, then whats the problem with that? I wouldn't mind having his experience down here. Playing coaches need good off field backup

Max Brown to coach Devonport. Atkins would be a wonderful addition to Burnie or Devonport as a assisant coach. Thoughts?

I would think he would a good addition. But would he do it?, Then again why would he? Getting shafted after doing what looked like a pretty good job of improving their playing group & having a good U18 group coming through might make him chuck the game in altogether. I'd be pissed off if I were him. I'd also be pissed off if I were Errol Bourne. I think he did a good job keeping a good team together in a broke club. It will be interesting to see who leaves D'port

Paul Atkins has a great footy brain and North Launy were certainly a better side this year than last year because of his input. Because of his work on the West Coast its probably only the two Coastal sides that have a chance to obtain his services.
Another interesting point is whether Zane Murphy will now stay with North as I believe it was his friendship with Atkins that enticed him there in the first place.
I agree with Madmug that Errol Bourn could feel very hard done by if he is overlooked for the Magpies senior job.
Devonport didnt even make the NTFL finals in 2008 and were expected to really struggle for the first couple of years in the TSL but finished fourth last year and second this year. Apart from a flag what more could anybody do ?

Who has had a meeting with North Hobart? Atkins?

Whoever is the coach of North Launceston next year would be well advised to see if they can work with Atkins and get him on board as a match day assistant? I dunno how this would work but you would think he might be able to put the upstairs club stuff aside and keep his relationship with the players going?

Who from ulverstone will max brown take with him to Devonport?

Cant see Atkins driving from Roseberry to NorthHobart as an assistant, I reckon he'd be good to get though.
I dont know who Brown might bring Devonport, maybe the question should be who will leave North Launy & Devonport because the committee got rid of coaches that the players respected & played for. We will soon find out. :p
