Mike Tice was fired by the Vikes a couple of hours after their win against Chicago.

Goodbye and good riddance, he's a tosser.

Who's next though?

Official announcement on Martz? The Shermanator? Norv Turner? Jeff Fisher an outsider (Probably not, unless he's the GM too)? Capers is GAWN... Vermeil has retired again... Mularkey and Haslett possibles also...

So that makes at least four coaching changes...

Place your bets people...

Re: Coaching carousel...

Already Gone

Houston (Capers fired)
Detriot (Mariucci Fired)
Kansas City (Vermeil Retired)
Minnesota (Tice Fired)

Could be going

New Orleans (Hasslet)
St Louis (Martz probably won't be back)
Dallas (Parcell's rumored to be retiring)
Green Bay (Sherman rumored to be on shaky ground)
Buffalo (Mularkey on the rocks)
Oakland (Turner is probably a goner)

Re: Coaching carousel...

Turner would have to be lucky to have a 3rd season with the raiders..

Washington's defensive coordinator, Gregg Williams will most likely be chased by a few teams, the Rams will probably pick him up. Mike Tice is a bit unlucky i reckon, i might have given him one more year, after all the injuries and scandals the Vikings suffered, he did pretty well to almost get them into the playoffs.

Re: Coaching carousel...

Tice was gone once the scalping issue came to light (unless the Vikings went deep into the playoffs this year).

Poor discipline from the top down under his watch was always going to be viewed poorly by new owners.

Saints are finally starting to make some hard decisions. Haslett should have been let go last year, but with the events in NO this year it was probably best he stayed (who would have wanted to start under those conditions). With Brooks & Haslett gone, now all the Saints need to do is fire Loomis and find a new owner and they might have a chance at building a winning organisation.

Re: Coaching carousel...

I think Farve retires. He said he would only come back if Sherman comes back.

Re: Coaching carousel...

Norv Turner gone. May mean that Moss will stay as he did not appear all that happy on the sidelines at the end of the loss to the Giants (especially after 4 attempts to drive in from 1 yard for which he was not on the field), and his apparent no show at a team meeting with Norv after the game.

Re: Coaching carousel...

Art Shell is the latest to be linked to the Raiders. Would be returning ten years or so after being sacked by Big Al! Another rumour I heard was that Al was chasing Parcells......

Re: Coaching carousel...

Did we all expect that the next Packers coach would have a 49ers background but that it would be Mariucci?

McCarthy set to become coach

The Green Bay Packers are set to hire Mike McCarthy as their new head coach, according to NFL sources.

McCarthy, 42, was the Packers’ quarterbacks’ coach in 1999, and this past season was the San Francisco 49ers’ offensive coordinator. Before that he was offensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints from 2000 through 2004.

The Packers are expected to announce the hiring sometime Thursday or Friday morning

General Manager Ted Thompson interviewed McCarthy on Sunday — he was one of seven candidates Thompson met with in a search to replace fired coach Mike Sherman. Thompson’s final interview was Tuesday with defensive coordinator Jim Bates, who also appeared to be a leading candidate. But Bates said Thompson informed him early Wednesday evening that he wasn’t getting the job.

McCarthy is one of the many coaches league-wide who runs a version of the West Coast offense.

Re: Coaching carousel...

Whats Russ Grimm ever done? He hasn't even been an OC. There is a huge difference between being a skills coach and a head coach.
