Well you probably already know I'm not a big believer in just Stats to judge a team or player (you are also allowed to physically look with knowledge at players and a team instead of just reading numbers!)...

Anyway a mate of mine shipped these coaching numbers to me....(Hope they are accurate T) :D

Looks like 'Tan Terry' could just have the worst coaching record from one season to another so far.

Terry, you're starting to make ol Spudley look like a genius....
Now, what was your excuse about the rubbish you inherited when Spud could at least win 4 games!! with that rubbish?
Is the rubbish Spud left you with, better than the rubbish you've brought together, trained and infused with the Wallace way?

97 - 10W 12L - 13th - Walls (6W 11L) / Gieschen (4W 1L)
98 - 12W 10L - 9th - Gieschen
99 - 9W 13L - 12th - Gieschen
00 - 11W 11L - 9th - Frawley
01 - 16W 9L - 3rd - Frawley
02 - 7W 15L - 14th - Frawley
03 - 7W 15L - 13th - Frawley
04 - 4W 18L - 16th - Frawley
05 - 10W 12L - 12th - Wallace
06 - 11W 11L - 9th - Wallace

Run this past Terry...
Looking like Frawley's 11-11 season to 16-11 the following year, will be impossible for you to replicate this year........Hmmmm.
Oh, by the way, Spud did that with 'rubbish'. (in your words).

Spud drove me mad as a coach, and I was glad to see him him leave, but if I'm to go by what the 'Stats' say.......Wallace is in freefall.
Maybe by 2011 the stats will be better? lol

Here's the wheelbarrow guys, fill it full of 'rebuilding' and 'playing the kids' and wheel it out AGAIN !! It's an old unproven chestnut.

lol
:D

The only impact Wallace has had on our list has been in finding 18-20yos and culling 24 players.

Since this is a unique scenario then it will result in types of stats we have never seen before at Tigerland.

If it's different to our past - then bloody good!

Well the answer's in the stats you provided. What happened to Danny's side when he started topping up?

:)STATS are crap.

Yesterday, my Herald Sun reported that we kick the most number of goals directly from kick-outs, led by Joel Bowden, who has set up 10.4. Chris Newman almost as good (and by the way West Coast rank dead last in this aspect of the game).
Today, Herald Sun reports Nathan Foley leads the league in centre clearances (hey, who the hell said Knobel and his tap outs were that important...Foley leads the league and we never win a tap out).
Tuesday, my Herald Sun reported that Pettifer, Kingsley and Richardson all had five scoring assists apiece against the Lions...the top three players for the round.

There's only one damn stat that matters.....anyone who has played football will tell you...and that is the SCOREBOARD my good friends.

We can twist and turn arguments to suit the debate (such as Schulz being one mighty fine, accurate kick for goal, but only touches it three times a game), it's the SCOREBOARD that counts.

And we are winless.

To use a Dennis Pagan line, having the most accurate kick for goial, leading clearance winner, most goals assists etc. are "like dancing with your sister" when you ain't winning!!!

No one is going to look back on this season in thre eyears time and say we got close eight out of the first 10 games, we just didn't win!

but the only 'chestnut' we've got;) unfortunately we can't just buy our way back to the top of the ladder (not that we could afford to anyway:o)

i know we're copping a lot of leg breaks and doosra's lately from the sultan, but the only way to the top of the ladder is solid drafting and good development so that the players blossom.....in the last 5-10 too many of our draftees have rotted:cool:

One of the few things I can look at that indicates that we are making some sort of progress is that apart from the Cats game we have not been belted despite losing game after game.

At the same stage last year we sat 9th with a 5-5 record and I, like many others, thought we are not going to badly sitting just outside the 8 with more than half the season to play, however the fact we had also copped 2 100+ point beltings had me a little concerned that we would struggle to make up the difference in % to get into the 8. History shows we went on to suffer another 100 point belting and a 15 goal hiding to end the season yet still finished 11-11.

It would seem that all this feat did was hide the true state of how bad we actually are. This year we have gone 0-1-9 in 10 rounds and as I mentioned earlier the only really bad result was the Cats game, most other games though we have been in a winning position but have not been able to get the points.

So I ask what is a better overall effort winning 11 games yet get belted by 15 goals on 4 occassions, still manage to win some games through trickery i.e. keepings off against the Crows, and generally hide the true state of the list?

Or

Have a season where you don't win as many games but also try and develop a game plan for the future. Sure we are losing and it bites but the fact we have not been belted on a regular basis would indicate that they have at least made some progress in terms of staying in games for long periods and only having a small period that eventually costs us the game?

Me personally, I am happy the truth of where we stand has finally come out because, for all Terrys flippers, wrong 'uns, doosras and other assorted spins, we can now see just how far we are off being a truly competitive side. IMO we are clsoer now than what we were 12 months ago despite the poor record. This is not a case of having blind faith in Terry but rather a belief in the team itself.
