Has worked as Senior Assistant at a club with strong cultural integrity (Sydney)
Has worked north of the border .
Understands working within NEAFL comp.
Understands Academy systems
Premiership player x 2 (Port Adelaide, Hawthorn)

Like most - I know little of Barker. But he doesn't tick any of the boxes above.
Suns need to follow the Sydney culture and playing model and just toughen up ...!

So we might end up with more Hallahan situations ? - ie someone picking players on behalf of a new coach not knowing what that coach really wants .....
(PS : Do feel for Hallahan - never given any chance in 3 years under Eade's regime despite consistent NEAFL form and an injury ravished senior team.) .

Possible I suppose - he definitely helped the kids at NEAFL level this year.
Hallahan plus all Academy rookies would be OK with me.....

Whatever the outcome, I hope we don't simply get a coaching announcement next week. I'd much prefer an announcement that redefines our entire coaching structure. Something like, Dew as coach (with his own assistants), McCartney as head of development, and then some sort of senior coaching director too.

I think we really need to feel assured that we are buying into a rock solid platform for the future, that won't crumble at a single point of failure.
