Code free DVD player

Before I come back to Australia in September, my sister in law wants me to pick up a cheap DVD player here in Switzerland so that her daughter can watch some Region 2 DVDs that she has in French.

I'm sure when I left Australia it was reasonably easy to get a region free DVD player. Is that still the case?

It would be a lot easier if they bought their own DVD player in Australia.

Just about every dvd player is region free. You just need to put in the right code which is usually numbers on the remote, opening and closing the dvd player and powering it off and on.

Just look up the model of your sisters current dvd player here and there's no need to by another one.

I'm looking at a few DVDs on Amazon.com, but I'm thinking I should probably get the Blu-Ray versions rather than standard DVD.

Are blu-ray DVD players region coded, and if they are, can they be unlocked like any normal DVD player? Should I specifically looking at buying a multi-region Blu-Ray DVD player?

Bluray players are region coded, but a lot of BD releases are region free. I recommend this site:

Well I can tell you I won't be putting up with any bullshit region coding.

Many DVD's are not made here, and buggered if I will be dictated to in what I can and cannot watch.

There are multi-region blu-ray players around, I just don't really know anything about them.
