Article: Stiffer Code of Conduct

Good to see that the discipline introduced last year has the unqualified support of the players!

------------------
This is a hallucination and these faces are in a dream. A computer generated environment; a fantasy island you can do anything and not have to face the consequences.

Well from what I read CJH, it wasn't exactly "unqualified support" for Frawley's code of conduct. More so that the players wanted to abolish it as they felt that the incidents that occurred with Daffy and Otto last season were just accidents. It was Gaspar that spoke up and said he wouldn't want someone like that in the side that made them change their minds. Surely if all players wanted it out and only one suggested that it stay that there would still be some players that aren't happy with the code of conduct.

I mean I think if Richmond played Daffy against Freo they may have won, but who is to say. You just don't know so it is not worth even saying things like that, Frawley should know better.

As long as the punishments were held against all players then good on them. You don't want some players incidents being shuffled under the rug just because of who they are. Frawley and the players were adament last year that any player would have suffered the same fate, but who knows what really happens in that place behind closed doors.

In one sense I think it is stupid suspending a player from a game if that player is an integral part but then again if they are disciplined then perhaps this creates a stronger bond and a more professional club. This topic could be debated until the cows come home, or until Collingwood win their next premiership, whichever come first.

i think a code of conduct is a great idea as long as everyone is unified behind it and they actually stick to it.....

otherwise frawley is just opening up a new can of worms for himself and the team and i feel disharmony could be in the air....

Exactly. If any player feels they are above the conduct or that it is wrong then it ain't gonna work at all. All have to be behind it, just as dutchy_rules said.

If some players feel it is a viable exercise and others don't there will be problems.

I am actually quite impressed with Frawley. I really didn't think he'd be able to cut it, especially at Richmond, but it seems he has plans and has been able to get the boys to work together. Although it may be a little early for me to give him a good wrap. He hasn't gotten us to finals and he has only been around for a year. He could be gone this time next year... Lets just hope that the Tiges have chnaged their strategies on coaching staff shuffles.
