Codec problem using Windows Movie Maker

Hi, I'm trying to edit a movie in Windows Movie Maker I made on an LG HDD/DVD recorder.

Not supporting the files and says I need to go and get Codec.

How in the hell do you know where to get the appropriate one and if it's the right one?

The file extensions not supported are .BUP - .IFO - .VOB

And I'm using Vista.

Maybe a program that could convert those files to an acceptable file might be the go, but I'm not sure how to go about that.

Anyone?

You could try the K-Lite Codec, which is quite popular, i know its for decoding different things on windows media player, it also says can encode so perhaps it can be used with movie maker?

Otherwise have a browse around free-codecs and you should find something for it.

From memory they are DVD files. You prob have to convert it before you edit it.
