He played a shocker last week but harsh to be dropped.
I thought his other games were great considering the amount of game time he's had in the last few seasons.

Take your rose coloured glasses off, Cog's has been below par and should not be gifted games, his 27, and wont be apart of a flag side if we have one. Along with Tuck and Newman and one to two of them should be traded at seasons end.

this is what i hate, he has been out for agers so he should get a free ride in the team.

stop with the Coughlan love in. He has been horrible

Yet Simmonds is allowed to play?

I'd rather a bloke who will PLAY FOR THE JUMPER, than some ****en unco spud who coasts along, sure Cogs might not have played well against Essendon, but he is returning from 2 years out of the game, he needs constant game time, especially ahead of ****en ********s who don't deserve to be at this club.

disp. tackles
Rnd5 16d 5t
Rnd6 19d 6t
Rnd7 21d 2t
Rnd8 28d 5t
Rnd9 10d 3t

As you can see he was building nicely until his shocker on the weekend.
free ride? Are you serious? with the year some of the others are having?

Cos I'm sure one of Thursfield, Riewoldt and Cousins would make a great ruck.
Because those 3 would've been the only ones to come in?

Graham, surely he is fit, never actually pulled his hammy, weak move to keep him out again, but I trust our brilliant medical staff who have already caused 2 hamstring injuries this year, guess 1 more week might be ok, knowing our med staff he'd be out for 5 years with a debilitating injury if he played.

Browne was playing in Round 1, obviously there was enough there to warrant a pick in Round 1, what's stopping him now?

Vickery, doesn't have to be the No.1 ruck spot, give it to Patto and let Vickery back up, it was alright for Carlton last year with Kruezer and look at him now, why can't it alright for us with Vickery?

Putt, might not have shown much at VFL level, but you can't play AFL in the VFL and has been played out of position a fair bit, give him a go and he might show something that he might not be given room to do in the VFL.

We have plenty of options, we are just looking past them for another stopgap solution.:thumbsd:

Vickery was outstanding in the ruck for Coburg last weekend (according to the Rawlings report). His only weakness was not enough overhead marking. Why not play him ahead of the slow lumbering Simmonds? That guy does not deserve to play if last weeks form is a guide! And it's on the large and fast Subiaco oval, so it would have made sense for the young gun to debut as second string to Patto.

yeah why not play a first gamer against the biggest ruckman in the league, despite what people seem to think teams need experienced ruckman on there list even if they are getting to the end of there playing days. We need simmonds in the team for at least another year

Yeah, because he did so well against those other experienced, 1st choice ruckmen in Ryder, Clark and Jacobs.

Fact is, we stick with a stop gap ruckman any longer and we won't have anyone good enough to take over once they are gone.

Matthew Kruezer played 20 of 22 games last year with no stop gap ruckman helping him out, this year, he is Carlton's no.1 ruckman and is averaging 17+ hitouts per game as well as getting 13+ disposals per game and hs kicked 6 goals in the 9 games all of which (Bar the goals which they are equal with) is better than Simmonds stats, PROOF, PUDDING, RIGHT THERE!

I couldn't care if we need an experienced ruckman in the side, it is a stop gap, he is the wrong side of 30 years old, playing not for the jumper, but for his pay check and is easily one of the worst ruckman still getting a game of football.

We have plenty of YOUNG Ruck options, so WHY NOT USE THEM?!!

Reports are the the ground at Subi is very hard, this would bit be ideal for Cogs to play on. Plus in the report we were picking a quick running team for the wide open Subi. I think giving Cogs a week off is ideal.

I'm abit pissed off they omited Cogs but hopefully it's for the better. And for the people saying they might be resting him he is actually going to play for Coburg this week!

You show a total lack of understanding of why we are in the position we are in. There have been two distinct groups at Richmond for some time now. The senior group and the rest. The rest often wonder why the seniors get games despite continual poor performances (Simmonds is a great example), whilst the rest will put in one bad game and then get dropped. This creates a feeling of disharmony. Rules for some and other rules for others.

Who cares if you are experienced. If you play hopeless and heartless football, it doesn't help to say that you have played 250 games. I'd rather have an inexperienced junior putting his heart and soul into it than the other option!

And as has been already mentioned, if Carlton had done the same with Kreuzer, he would be languishing in the reserves getting used to its slower pace, rather than being one of the best big men this year.

Wallace's report on Eye of the Tiger says "On the big Subiaco Oval, you need to ensure that you go in with a running team. So, in selection, we will be picking the side accordingly. Therefore, if somebody misses out, who you perhaps thought had a reasonable game last week, you’ll understand why".
