Hasn't exactly come from a strong succesful footballing culture which is what we are trying to build. I don't know, can play, would be dependant on his attitude and workrate.

Possibly Both, but my mate said there was a group and he recognised Ricky Petterd and said a few older blokes who he didn't know... so chances are MAYBE??

Risky one. If we make the 8 this year then I would consider him if the price was right and the coaches/recruiters were sold on his attitude.

If we miss the 8, I'd rather us keep putting games into the kids and seeing what they can do.

I don't like the Idea of Petterd, Houli, Grigg and Sylvia all in the side. I think we have done enough poaching from the fringes of other clubs, time we develop our own talent.

I agree to an extent, but Sylvia isn't from the fringes, he is from the core.

That's the difference really. Playing wise he's a good fit. Fwd/Mid who is extremely damaging. I'm not even that fussed about him being a ******** off the field. He's a bit of one on field and does dumb things which is the issue. Is it the frustration of playing for Melbourne? From the rumours going around he will be a Magpie anyway.

Doesn't even play the same position as Tuck, Sylvia is a HFF who can roam through the middle, barely a midfielder.

He is exactly what we need IMO and I would make a play. 1.2 Mill for 3 years would be atleast what he is after I would think and I would suggest thats about right. Maybe even slight unders.

From what I recall, he played nemerous games for Melbourne as an onballer earlier in his career.

Treating this as purely hypothetical come the end of the year, I probably lean towards do not want.

1. Already have a large amount of recycled contributors to the team to help the young guns become absolute stars and build a good culture. Most of them from winning teams.

2. Sylvia will be 28 for the 2014 season, so only a handful of seasons left at the absolute best.

3. Off-field bullshit annoys me. We just sacked Daniel Connors, I wouldn't want us going after someone just like him.

4. Talent without application. Has skills in spades, but has never pushed himself, never strived to be anything more than mediocre. Not sure we want someone who has done nothing with their talent for 10 years...

It all comes down to price for me. If we can give up a 4th rounder or fringe player (i.e. McGuane possibly) or something like that then maybe, I guess.

Don't reckon he'd ask for a heap. Just get himself out of Melbourne. No idea what I'd offer him but that's a hefty price to pay for someone who could go off the rails at any stage.

Johnson, Jolly possibly retiring. Didak getting his pay reduced. Maybe Krak leaving. All those would free up cash.

But We were in Dire need of a better Ruckman, Are we really lacking in Midfield type players? IMO, anyone taken from Melbourne is a 'fringe player'. There really is no guarantee that the move will bring any results.

But for the right price, it would make sense. If he leaves he won't be moving for money (unless GWS go knocking). Is he FA? or out of contract? I'd rather not have to give up a R1 pick, which is probably what Melbourne would ask for at least.
