But We were in Dire need of a better Ruckman, Are we really lacking in Midfield type players? IMO, anyone taken from Melbourne is a 'fringe player'. There really is no guarantee that the move will bring any results.

But for the right price, it would make sense. If he leaves he won't be moving for money (unless GWS go knocking). Is he FA? or out of contract? I'd rather not have to give up a R1 pick, which is probably what Melbourne would ask for at least.

He's a free agent. Unrestricted I think. So it's just offer him a salary and if he agrees there isn't anything Melbourne can do about it. He's close to their best player so he wouldn't be a fringe. We are lacking half forwards who can play through the midfield IMO. Question is whether he's the right player to fill that hole.

I think he has managed to keep his nose clean for at least the last 12 months (since doing a runner on his car when his mate crashed it in 2011). Still only 27 and if he stayed out of trouble for the rest of this year, I would be all for it.

Would be much cheaper than his potential and I would back the Tigers coaching staff and our new found, hard earned culture to help turn him into a consistently performing gun. These are the sort of players who can impact on a finals series in a big way.

Like I mentioned about Jed Lamb in the Blair Hartley thread, this type of player is exactly what we need more of.

Ah. More fool me. Well in that case, my argument for this being a 'bargain' still stands, but it would only refer to his salary then. If we can easily fit him into our structure with a 2-3 year deal without having to compromise the obvious growing deals of Cotchin, Riewoldt, Vlastuin, Rance, etc. then I say go for it.

Hmmm interesting proposition.

Shows undoubted quality on occasions at a shocking football club. I heard Collingwood have basically agreed terms with his management so we'll see about this rumour.

He comes to us as a role player in a way with our midfield/forward players a strength. Cotchin, Deledio, Martin, Vlastuin, Conca, Ellis, Knights, Sylvia.

Pretty good icing to put on the cake for Free.

Risky one. If we make the 8 this year then I would consider him if the price was right and the coaches/recruiters were sold on his attitude.

If we miss the 8, I'd rather us keep putting games into the kids and seeing what they can do.
