When it comes to gaming are there certain things you look to get?

IE Do you always buy a particular edition, say the steel book versions, or do you buy the game guide for every game that you buy?

Me? I like to have to steel book and special editions of the games I love. This has set me back a fair bit of cash because I've re-bought games just to get the steel book cover. However, I just like having them, and keeping them in top condition.

How about everyone else?

I try to avoid platinum editions heavily. The added border just cheapens the game for me. Also much prefer AU PAL copies of all my games and of course if I'm buying preowned then the game must come with the slip and manual though I can make an exception on occasion.

With special editions and the like, I'll generally only get it if it's a game/franchise I really like. Otherwise I'm probably happy with the regular edition.

When buying older games (ie: N64 games) i like to try and get them with box and manual, sometimes this is to costly though.
I get limited and special editions of games that I'm hyped for, however I'll settle for a standard edition if I'm short on cash.
I always like to look after my games, i don't think any of my games have ever had scratches on them.
I don't mind buying preowned if it's in good condition.

Always buy the CE. Mainly for the games I love but 90% of the time if there is a CE I'll buy it.

Only buy guide books on games that are huge with large collection side of things in the game. GTA5 the latest one I bought.

Never ever buy platinum games, hate it. And I like to buy AU PAL games if I can help it. If a game is not released in Aus (very rarely now) I'll import it.

I collect anything to do with the Legend of Zelda franchise, here is most of my collection (have got a few more things since these pictures):

Very nice..... Zelda collections not bad either ;) That Link and Epona statue is expensive enough on its own, the whole lot would be worth a fair bit.

My Zelda collection consists of the 2 N64 games, Windwaker HD and the gold DS storage case.

Yep that's me in the pic :)

Yeah the Link and Epona statue was $500 I believe, I just got the Ganandorf one as well which was $450.

I imagine the new Zelda 3DS XL is on order then

Yes haha, although I have slowed down this year as I bought a house so don't have as much extra money :(

Looks like you're missing Four Swords on Gamecube (I might have missed it)

Used to go the special/collectors editions, but games are too overpriced nowadays anyway and in the end it was useless crap that would just sit on the shelf. Did however buy the Batman Origins one $114 for the Batman / Joker statue. Definitely worth it!! I love a nice steelbook cover too.

As for retro. Have a decent number of rare Playstation One games I've collected over the last three years, over 250 and growing. Have to be complete though. Black, PAL versions, preferable AU copies, but I have a few UK ones, no platinum/white/best of. And also as for annually repeated sporting franchises as a rule I collect the first and the last released. (except NBA '97 cardboard ed.) And no kids games like The Tweenies, Mary Kate and Ashley, Barbie, Teletubbies.

If I believe that I'm going to be invested in a game or the franchise I'll buy the CE version of it. Recently that included the Phenom Ed. of WWE 2k14 and the CE for Batman with the LCD statue. I genuinely feared both games would be subpar (which to a point they both are) but the franchises make the content that came with it collectible in and of itself (more so for Batman than the WWE game).

I preordered the CE for InFamous Second Son and Watch Dog DedSec. Other PS4 CE's that I feel may be "must haves" (dependent upon the content) include: Battlefront, Elder Scrolls Online, Dragon Age: Inquisition, The Order: 1886 and The Witcher 3.
