Bowles and Knopft can't win on their own

In a shocking game as a whole for Collingwood, despite leading at three quarter time, Marc Bowles kicked 8 goals while Nicholas Knopft picked up 35 possessions, yet the Pies still lost by 14 points after being held to one goal in the last quarter. As good as Bowles was, Bryan Kendrick kicked 10 as the Saints ended up being too strong for the Pies as they struggle to maintain to stay consistent.

Collingwood slump to sixth after Hawks outgun them

Imagine this. You're three best midfielders collect 94 disposals between them and your main key forward kicks 7 goals. No injuries or reports lost in the game. Surely you would be happy? No in this case it wasn't enough for the Pies who slumped to their second loss on the trot and fourth for the season. They led in every stat except for Inside 50's and the all important, Goals. Marcus Ranson picked up 33 possessions and took 5 marks to pick up the BOG award yet was unhappy due to the Pies loss "They were just too good... we should have won but we weren't good enough on the day".

Collingwood's second half made of dreams

There was no real standout for Collingwood like last weeks four main stars had been. But this time, it was a hard fought battle and more importantly, a win. Bryan Hovey was the best for the victors with 29 possessions, 5 marks and a score sheet of 2.1. Captain Marc Bowles kicked a mild 3 goals while the midfield were quiet, yet effective. After not kicking a goal until the 24th minute mark of the second quarter, Collingwood kicked 12 goals to 6 in the second half to storm home by 4 points.

Collingwood comeback falls short at AAMI

Collingwood never seemed to be in it until the last quarter and even then, time became the ultimate enemy. While both teams were inaccurate (29.38 between them), Adelaide seemed to control the match more and eventaully managed to hold on by 12 points. Marc Bowles kicked 5 goals while Marcus Ranson was impressive for the Pies. Zachary Teale did well in the ruck and several players played well but it wasn't enough to get them across the line.

Injured dropping Bulldogs hold off hapless Pies

It seemed nothing or nobody wanted the Bulldogs to win. Injuries galore and an inaccuracy not recommended for the faint hearted, the Bulldogs some how pulled a win out of no where against the out-of-form Pies. Schafer kicked another 3 goals while the midfield did some nice things however the Pies never really seemed dangerous and are still missing that 'X' factor which Peter Williams is always craving about a premiership team needing. It is an understatement to say the Pies need a win. And soon.

Collingwood finally find form... and the four points

Collingwood have reasserted themselves as one of the teams to beat after pumping Port Adelaide to the tune of 61 points. The win was soured by the report of star midfielder Marcus Ranson for eye gouging who received one week by the tribunal. Marc Bowles was back to his best with 7 goals while Zachary Teale dominated in the ruck with 24 hitouts after a quiet week last week. Nicholas Knopft picked up 29 possessions and kicked 3 goals as the Pies had their supporters going nuts at the final siren.

Collingwood storm home to collect points

It was an exciting yet, low scoring game at the G' yesterday at three quarter time. Little did the Collingwood fans know, their team was about to almost double their score by the end of the match, storming home to kick seven goals to one and win by 39 points after leading by just four points going into the last break. Knopf and Maidment did well without Ranson as they complimented the midfield perfectly while Teale yet again was on fire as he is becoming one of the best tap ruckman in the league. Everybody chipped in for the Pies in a team effort which saw them claim 5th spot and almost guaranteed themselves a finals spot.

Collingwood 15.16.106 defeated Geelong 9.13.67

Collingwood's Ranson misfortune?

In a terrible loss to West Coast after starting to assert itself as one of the powerhouses of the league, many experts have called Collingwood stupid for not recalling Marcus Ranson, arguably the clubs' best midfielder. However the midfield can hardly be blamed, dominating in centre clearances and clearances in general. With Teale again strong in the ruck, the blame lays at either end of the field. No-one for the Pies really starred especially after they lost the lead in the second quarter and never looked like gaining it back.

Collingwood 10.7.67 defeated by West Coast 17.16.118

Collingwood blow another chance

It seems as big as Collingwood's rise up the ladder, the greater the fall has been back to earth after being given another reality check, this time by the Kangaroos. Marcus Ranson and David Hatherly were back to their best with 30 possessions each while Zachary Teale kept up his great form in the ruck. Marc Bowles kicked 4 goals in the loss. Collingwood were particularly disappointed after they trailed by only a point going into the last quarter. Kangaroos proved too strong for the young Pies, winning by 15 points.

Pies outclass Bombers in fiery showdown

In a much needed win, the Pies have stayed composed for a full four quarters after beating the Bombers in a classic showdown by 35 points. Marc Bowles collected 18 possessions, took 11 marks and kicked 5 goals in a great team win while star midfielder Marcus Ranson had 29 possessions accompanied by 3 goals. Collingwood kicked 8 goals in the third quarter to blow away from the Bombers and to collect their tenth win for the season and cement 7th spot for the time being.

Pies win, Scoble out for season

Marc Bowles, you legend. They were the words coming out from the ground after he played one of the best games of his career, which is very impressive for him. He collected 30 disposals, took 17 marks and kicked 5 goals from CHF in a dominating display of class and pure skill. The Collingwood midfield again was brilliant meanwhile Nolan Scoble won't be out on the field for the rest of the season after breaking his ankle and being reported for three weeks. Hopefully Collingwood can regroup and secure a finals spot next week.

Collingwood belt Sydney to secure finals spot

After a nerve-racking mid-season, Collingwood have finally secured a finals spot with a comfortable 63 point belting of Sydney to put the Swans' finals chance in serious doubt. Marc Bowles kicked 5 goals with 12 marks but the BOG on the ground was undoubtedly the 38 possession, 4 goal Marcus Ranson. Hatherly and Knopf picked up another 50 possessions between them as the Pies' fans went nuts as the song was sung loud and hard for all Pies fans to enjoy.

Collingwood in race for top spot after knocking off arch rival

As the finals action begins to heat up before it begins in a fortnight, Collingwood have given themselves a chance to finish minor premiers if results fall their way. Marc Bowles and co. went about doing what they did best, as the Pies kept a steady lead throughout the match to win by 28 points. Marc Bowles had yet another 12 marks and 5 goals to bring up his 92nd goal of the season. Ranson and Hatherly had another day out in the midfield with 64 possessions between them, however Collingwood's day was dampened with the report to star midfielder, David Hatherly. He will miss a week for tripping.

Collingwood spur to win and set up re-match next week

Collingwood have won their 14th match and finished second only to realise that they face the same Brisbane team again next week, only this time, it will be on home soil. Samuel Mulhall was brilliant from defense with 15 massive marks. Stephen Street kicked 6 goals in a brilliant display as the Brisbane backman worked overtime to keep Collingwood's goal kicking machine, Marc Bowles at bay. Knopf picked up 31 disposals while Ranson collected 28 disposals. The Pies' improvement has the fans hopeful after the only team that beat them to the minor premiership, Carlton, they beat last week. So all is looking good in the Pies' camp with David Hatherly to return next week.

Marcus Ranson collected 33 disposals and kicked a goal while Brayden Butright did well at full forward kicking 5 goals. Marc Bowles was quite, yet kicked a solitary 3. Knopf once again was up there with the best as he picked up 27 possessions, and kicked a goal. The Pies' will await the winner of the Carlton-Melbourne clash after the Blues' shock loss to Hawthorn.

Williams says Pies are ready for arch-rivals

After beating them just under a month ago, Collingwood coach says the Pies are ready to face arch-rival Carlton once again, to fight off for a spot in the Grand Final on Saturday. "Oh we're ready all right, we're ready to give it all we got and make what we were aiming to get to at the start of the season. We have worked so hard to get here, now it's our chance to shine. Especially with a few players on the verge of retirement" Williams said at yesterday's press conference. Captain Marc Bowles was also confident "We can do it, we have the confidence. We have a lot of young blokes, but we're up for the challenge." Williams also stated that any fit players could be considered for selection.

Collingwood smash Carlton to reach the Grand Final

The Collingwood Football Club are in the Grand Final. Just 12 months after calls from critics that Peter Williams should be sacked as coach, those critics have been praising his skills as he has led a mixed group of experience and youth to the 2070 Grand Final. Marc Bowles seems to be getting better with age. His match winning performance of 23 possessions, 19 marks and 6.3 was crucial as well as his leadership as the Pies smashed Carlton to the tune of 74 points. Zachary Teale also came of age with 18 marks despite not being dominant in the hitouts. The midfield starred again while the forward line again helped Bowles kick a winning score. Collingwood face Hawthorn next week after they defeated Brisbane by 20 points in the other Preliminary Final. Both teams will go full out to claim the Holy Grail.

Williams re-signs after admitting he considered quitting

Collingwood coach Peter Williams has somehow come up with the energy to coach the black and white army for another three years to bring up his 70th season by the end of it, or his 84th birthday after he started coaching at the age of 13, the youngest ever in history. His three year deal is worth $5,615,000 and is sure to have problems with salary cap at the end of the season and see yet another generation come through the ranks "It will be an interesting experience over the next three years after the terrible Grand Final loss but I believe we can recover and this will set us up for a premiership in the coming years." Williams said yesterday. He did admit that he thought about quitting coaching or switching clubs "Yeah it came into my head but I'll coach till I drop pretty much because it is my life and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else." In his last words he uttered the famous lines "Carn' the mighty Pies'!"
