you have a good point - we saw what happened last year with the key injuries and they couldn't recover from them - they have there stars back this year and are playing good football - honestly i don't think they have a better list than your freo, sydney etc. but they are playing well as a team and im backing them to cause upsets in September action (only if they stay reasonably fit)

Seriously, we lost. We weren't good enough to beat West Coast on the night. Personally I am not happy with some selections and I'm never happy to lose but all in all there were some good signs for the rest of this year for Collingwood. Collingwood will go into a September clash with WCE in Melbourne very confident. A different matter at Subi but at least they won't go in with anything other than a positive mindset.

As for depth, Collingwood's is no worse than West Coast's. Collingwood have more depth up forward and down back. They have none in the midfield though which is a problem over the course of the year and the ruck is a real issue. As we saw in last years finals though, all midfield means no flag. West Coast, Adelaide and Geelong proved that.

If Collingwood are ordinary I’d be very worried about West Coast. With a dominant ruck (38 to 18), Chris Judd burning and Lynch in career best form they had a relatively narrow win at home.

As for Collingwood’s depth:
Richards, Buckley, Travis Cloke, Rhyce Shaw and Rusling are arguably in the best 22 to 25 and then we get down to depth players like Morrison, Rowe, Iaccobuci, Cameron Cloke and then it’s the kids. We haven’t even seen the number 5 draft pick yet but he’s been in great form in the VFL.

We are curently seeing what St. Kilda's depth is like.

We have depth this year, they are still rookies, of course, but there is still some players there that can still help us get into the 8. If we stay injury free we can make the Top 4 if we can manage to play our best.

Injury wasn't the only thing last year it was also poor form by a few players as well.

No side could cover the injuries they suffered to key players over the last couple of years.
