It's a Very Nice Article about Rambo.

If he plays RD 1 - Who Plays FB Him or Taz?

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/a...s-round-1-return/story-e6frf9jf-1226212655438
If he had been fit we could done with him against Hawkins,If he is fit and ready to go rd 1 then I would have at him fullback and Taz can play on a small forward or 3rd tall as he does both well.

That was a good read and pleased to see he had no thoughts on going elsewhere,I was a bit worried after he cracked his knee he did seem a bit disolusioned with the club but all,s well that end,s well.:thumbsu:

This idea that it's Tarrant vs. Rambo for the FB spot, and that one of them has to play elsewhere, is totally misguided. That's not a crack at you, Dave, as it's been mentioned by many others too.

Tarrant is more than capable of playing on all but the very quickest forwards, and could free up someone like Heath Shaw or Harry O'Brien from having to play a defensive role. Tarrant is also, shockingly enough, capable of playing as a forward...

I recall last year before Brown got injured that Harry was playing in practice matches further up the ground off a wing. Taz could easily fill Harry's current running half back/lock down roles

Depending on the oppositon,Id actually like to see them play Brown at full back and try pushing Tarrant up to the wing ,ala Richo a few years ago, so he can use his athleticism.
He has good hands and is a good field kick.
He would also be a good target at kick outs.

Does anyone else think that a defence that contains Brown, Reid, Tarrant, and Maxwell is a bit too lacking in run.

Throw Toovs and to a lesser extent Goldsack into that.
We definately aren't short of tall defenders,or mid-sized for that matter.

Harry and Heater, and maybe Johnson also, will be our rebounders again, with hopefully one or two of our Magoo players pushing into the backline.

All in all,its not too bad a problem to have though.

Love to see Harry in a new role in 2012.

Love to see Harry adding extra dimensions to his game in 2012. As much as it's good to see him streaming forward out of the backline with his elbows out and the wind in his hair - that predictability makes him a bit vulnerable.

Back on-topic - it'll be good having Brown and Clarke back to put some pressure on backline spots.

What does that mean, Vinnie? You have said that it is misguided that one has to play elsewhere, and then you suggested that Tarrant CAN play elsewhere, and proceed to list where else Tarrant can play.

I see Brown as taking the deep tallest forward (even if it is the 2nd ruckman) and Taz taking the third tallest type after Reid takes the CHF.

Now that he'd leaned down (last couple of years) he's capable of playing on the quickest big forward as shown against Reiwoldt....

He'll play where he's needed, there really is no positions anymore....

Nathan Brown's 2012 season should be managed. Remember he is coming back from a serious knee injury and a few complications during recovery... and it will take him a year to get his full pace back.

Ultimately i think he'll start in the VFL and eventually force his way back.

I think we could comfortably have both he and Tarrant in the team...however at Taz's age it wouldn't be a bad idea to freshen him up from time to time and Brown is perfect cover.

Tarrant was shot by finals, and it was a huge effort by him to play as well as he did. That said, it would've been great if he could've been rested in the lead up to finals.

I'm not expecting a massive year from Brown...but given the fact this could be Tarrant's last year, Rambo is a vital component of our list and it's important he is nursed back

Yes and no...
Depending on where Johnno plays, we will have Shaw, Harry, Marty and Johnno to play back there.

(And who needs run when you have a kick like Reid's!):thumbsu:

I agree, although don't forget he did his knee at the start of 2011 and was nearly recovered when he slipped over. His knee should be OK, it'll be his touch that could be missing, but considering he's already training again a full preseason could be enough.

Probably looking at rounds 6-9. He needs a lot of time in the vfl to get back into it which was evident the other day and in his interview.

Might not be round 1 maybe round 3?
As I've said all along, the "dream scenario" for Nate is to return for ANZAC day when we will be forced to make some changes due to the 4 day break.

For that to happen he would have to play at least 3/4 of the VFL game this weekend, as we'd want to go lightly on him next weekend in the VFL with the short break leading into AD.

I personally don't think we'll see him until the Dogs game at earliest (Round 6) but as I said, with the craziness in terms of fixturing around ANZAC day this year, we may bring him in for the round 5 blockbuster.

No rush though, we want both Taz and Nate fit and firing come August and September.:)

As the coaching staff are showing no one comes back before they are ready there is even more reason to be cautious with N Brown,we need a fit and firing Nathan in the back half of the season.

so will he play reserves again this week?

Can't wait to have him back!

I can't either he's going to provide us with a lot of flexibility. It'll leave us with 4 players capable of playing KPD at AFL level and he's literally the ideal match up for Hawkins, who as a focal point is the closest player to Cloke in the league ATM.

There's no way Hawkins will be able to dominate him the way he's rag dolled Schoenmakers, Dawson and Reid in his last 3 matches. Because Brown's well built enough to go toe to toe with him and Hawkins hasn't got the tank to blow him up.
