I am seeking some help/advice from some of the computer savvy posters that reside here:
I am having a problem with my PC in that every time I log off I get the following message box: "WIN95 RPC Wmsg Window" with the usual message that this program is not responding and the 3 options of "wait" "end task" & "cancel" are presented. I walked past the local computer shop today and explained the problem and the guy suggested that some viruses begin with "WIN95" and that I may have picked up a virus. I am also having problems with Explorer (not Internet Explorer) too. When I want to open a file from My Documents for example the system takes about 20 seconds to respond and I'm sure it is related to the above problem. Explorer recently has not responded on a couple of occasions in the last day or two also and I have had do an ctrl-alt-del and end task to close Explorer.
If I knew what that program was (RPC Wmsg) then I may be able to attack it from that angle). I did a search for files on rpc.* and had 17 results ranging from grpconv.exe to mapirpc.reg(which resides in C:\Program Files\Windows Messaging which I think ties in with the RPC Wmsg part of the error) with a bunch of .dll files in between.
Any suggestions you may have would be greatly appreciated. Boy these things have a way of screwing up your day.
