is there anyone out there who has some real inside knowledge into who the pies are going to take with their picks 2 and 5 will it be 2 mids or will it be 1 mid and 1 kpp?
 
Of course not.

You can only go on the public comments made by people like MM and Balme.

They have both said on several occasions.

"We will be going for quick mid fielders"

Other than that it is just guess work by all the posters on here.
 
I've moved this thread to our board manassa. It'd likely be one of us who'd have the inside info and there's already too many Collingwood threads over at the D&T.

Fact is, no one's even heard a solitary whisper yet. And that's the way it should be!

With our first two picks, just get the best available, no matter where they play. Then you can start looking after needs.
 
can tell ya that carlton def taking murphy. Can also tell you that collingwood recruiters work real closley with leon harris, at one stage asking him to be an assisstant coach. Why i bring this up, is becaus eleon was telling me that they went for chris egan last yera, which he was really surprised at. Collingwood asked him who would be the best/ your best player running around that would still probably be around pick 10. Leon said chris egan, but they dont usually take players witha troubled background, due to potential off field probs etc etc. Yet, collingwood took the punt and went with him,s o they go by what leon has said.

Getting to the point, leon said that ellisis ina similar ilk to luke power, and hinted that althoguh 'murph' is a very very good player, ellis, in hi8s opinion, may be a fraction better. Didn't say it, just hinted. So u can bet your bottom dollar the pies first reference at this eyars draft regarding players ability, worik ethic and family/ background info, they'll be approaching leon, and leon will straight up tell them:
Pick ellis, dont pick him and ur stupid!

thus, dont be surprised if we take a couple of V/C boys this draft.

mate, it snot a scoop,,, just wat i been told :),,, um muston was considered top 10 start of the year before reco,,, but i doubt they'll risk it. U can fix an attitude, u cnatr eally fix chrnoic klnee problems. Perhaps later on pick 30+ as a gamble, but unlikely.

You wouldn't want to get Ellis' similarity to Luke Power or Sam Power muddled up!

Whoever we get, I'm hoping that we're not relying on opinions of people who aren't employed by the Club to recruit. No doubt our recruiters speak to other recruiters, but if they ain't relying on their own opinions, then sack them, put me in there on $200K and I'll recruit after reading reports on internet forums!!

furthermore, its common knowledge that, A) all club recruiters consult the nationals coaches before selecting players and B) collingwood were and always were going to take ellis anyway!

so not really a scoop, but some interesting info :)

The point is it's not common knowledge! It's almost 100% internet speculation. People go Murph and Ellis are the best, therefore Collingwood will take Ellis.

It's strange how the draft always goes from "no real standouts" to guaranteed picks one and two!!

We haven't taken him yet and outside of your rumour (if you'd call us asking for an opinion in a casual conversation a rumour), there has been nothing linking us to Ellis.

Agree with Ellis, but is there some doubt about Swallow's disposal?

What about Vercoe (sp?) it is reported that he is lightning quick and reasonable skills to go with it.
Never seen him myself so I'm not sure about the accuracy of the reports

Its one thing to get stuck into the clowns who get their jollies out of trying to give our club a whack, but can you tell me Murray why you feel the need to go after Vegas? Seems to me that Vegas is one of the few posters who can argue a point with some clarity and perspective. By all means continue to engage the numerous Bigfooty bufoons for whatever reason (I'll get in the gutter from time to time but it gets old after a while and there's just to many of them) but sitting in an ivory tower and potting people who don't deserve it is a low blow.
