I must be the only bloke here who reckons he's a spud....the only negative to me is that we elevated Sauce rather than pick up Maguire.

Although I am happy to be proven wrong and will be the first to admit it if it happens. Good luck to him but wouldn't be holding my breath

Sauce is actually a better tap ruckman than Kreuzer, but obviously does not have Kreuzer's mobility. Surprisingly, for someone who looks like a bit of a 'plodder', Sauce is very good below his knees.

In the handful of games Sauce played before suffering injury, I thought he showed enough to suggest he could play at AFL level.

Elevating Sauce means that the club is think about either Kreuzer or Hammer up front for most of the season or rotating the two through FF.

And the few games I saw him playing in, his positional and tap work have come on leaps and bounds over a couple of years ago when people would be jumping all over him and he looked like he would never make it.

Admittedly he isnt the most mobile or ruckman, but he is an excellent backup to have.

I reckon Jacobs has a lot of upside.

The games he played last year showed he added excellent tap work to our midfield fleet and we looked the most dynamic when he was available to ruck. If warnock comes good Jacobs might be squeezed out but a great backup to have available.

He reminds me quite a bit like J Madden in terms of his ruck work with a little better mobility with his hand passes.

Selections No.72 and 83: Rookie elevation Sam Jacobs and Aaron Joseph
“Sammy Jacobs has worked really hard since he came to us as a rookie ruckman. Three years to get to the line and the biggest heart at the footy club and the guys are delighted that he gets a spot on our list.

“And Aaron Joseph, who got a lucky game this year in the NAB against Gary Ablett Jr. Did a good job and then played every game of the year and had a fantastic year. So he gets a spot on the senior list. Sammy asked me if I could pick him before Aaron, so I did, so they’ll have a little argument at the club tomorrow.”

I reckon that's the plan. Based on his form at the start of this year (only time I've seen him in action), and the plan above, I'd have him in my starting 22 anytime.

Well done Sammy.

Congrats to him, very much deserved. There is no doubt in my mind Sauce can play at AFL level, none at all. I think he's showed enough thus far.

He may find it hard to get into the senior side (or may not, depends what our gameplan is with Hammer and Kreuz as already suggested) but even if he doesn't, you can't complain with this depth :thumbsu:

Spot on. I really like his rucking and in his early games competed well and gave our mids first touch quite often. he's a big unit and hard to shift.
I reckon he would be a certain starter in the seniors if he was quicker. don't know whether he can get quicker though. Will be really interesting to watch his career unfold in the next couple of years.
