Bear with me please, I'm a serious Luddite, but I've just picked up (on an impulse) one of those turntables from Tandy with the pre-amp with the idea of connecting it to my PC and converting all my vinyl to either mp3 or CD-playable format. Now, I've noticed that its means of connection to something else (RCA cords) is not really compatible with my PC. Does anyone know how this is generally done? Also, any ideas on software to convert the songs to other formats?

I think it's a 9mm plug on the computer (like the smaller headphone plug), just pick up an adapter to go from RCA to that plug. Go down to Jaycar and tell them what you want to do and they'll help you out

I had to get this thing which cost 700 bucks :mad:dont ask me what i know nothing about computers, but now I can have a record on and any mp3 and it thinks the mp3 is on the record so you can mix and scratch

That would be final scratch. Quite handy for producers who like to play there own tracks on vinyl without the pressing costs or people like richie hawtin who like playing with loops.

My cords are double RCA female into headphone jack.

I recommend cool edit to record. You can save files as wav or mp3 or other formats.
