Its may be a little premature but I think its already pretty evident how much of a asset conolly is to the dockers, and just how good he will be longterm.
Firstly our team is playing games out and getting stronger with each quater, opposed to starting strong and having terrible second half fade outs.
When the games there to be won our team can stand up, somthing we were unable to do last season.

The movement of Koops into the backline has definitely paid off.Though at times I question his ability to spoil the ball he gives us great drive, and is very good in the clinches clearing the ball.
The recall of grover is another one I have enjoyed seeing, he seemed on the outer under other coaches but conolly has faith in him.
Pavlich in the backline is another one that seems to be paying off.We finally have a player of calibre that can take the big guns and beat them.The inclusion of McPharlin in the backline will result in on of the best in the league.
Haselby looks allot better than last year there seems to be real passion and bondong down at the club.
I was aslo very happy to see Croad dragged and blasted for his indescrition.
Somthing that has been lacking at the port club.
Medhurst it seems was one of the finds of the draft.

I am sure this is only the tip of the iceburg but it deserved a mention.
 
I totally agree. Its good to see all 22 Fremantle players gel like they did on Sunday. Hopefully they will put in a similar performance against Geelong.
 
Sabre I don't think Grover was out of favour with other coaches it was just that he was injured and and wasn't able to perform at his best.He is looking good at the moment though.
Connelly certainly seems to have the respect of the players and that is the first big plus for any coach.
We shouldn't be getting to carried away just yet though it is still a long way to go but the signs are positive.

Yeh I remember seeing Grover play his first game at the WACA against Port I think it was and thinking that this kid is going to be a really good player. I heard that for most of last year he was playing with a pretty serious groin injury / Osteitis Pubis which never quite mended itself and you could see it in how he was playing. This year he had an interupted preseason, but had played in alot of the preseason games and had gotten himself pretty fit. He's playing really well at the moment and it's almost like having another new player coming into the team. Hopefully he can keep it up for the rest of the year.
I noticed in the paper today that the dockers were saying that Andrew Siegert would probably stay on the list in place of Clive. I think it's a really good move because with some experience at the top level, I think he could really contribute well for the team. But on the other hand I'm starting to worry about the salary cap problems. Francis was going to be on 60 grand as a base salary plus match payments and I'm just wondering how much Siegert will recieve on the senior list ??
But either way I'm a big wrap for Siegert and hope he can keep his place in the team for the year.

Although we don't know what he says to the players, in the media he is always talking about the 3 year plan, seems not to be very critical of Freo's chronic skill errors (he's "excited" about how many turnovers the players make because it shows how much room for improvement there is :eek: ). When the players hear this sort of talk they're not likely to take the long hard look at themselves that's required and you'll continue to see the inconsistency that has become the Fremantle trademark.

In his first year of coaching, Mark Williams in a press conference called his players effort against Footscray "gutless". He was criticised by many, but Port took it on board and went on to make the finals for the first time.

Connolly is too soft on his players.

That is very harsh on CC.

Freo will definately be working on every aspect of the style of game they play.

As you can clearly see they have won two hard fought matches and well deserved matches.

They will improve. They will probably beat Essendon this week just to give the bombers another reality check!
